Great for the price
People often want perfection out of the navigation apps which is something you won't even get out of Tom Tom and considering copilot is half its price is a bargain. I have driven up and down the country with it and it has served me well and is one of the best apps I've bought.
But as always, it cannot be totally relied on as it does sometimes provide wrong info, road speed limits are often incorrectly displayed as being higher than what they actually are. Most of the time it will notify you of speed cameras but it has missed out one here and there but it goes without saying that you shouldn't rely on these things for that anyway as it is after all, an added 'free' feature. Thats all I can really say bad about it which, to be honest, is the same as any other sat-nav user would usually complain about.
Active traffic maps is excellent and always keeps you a step ahead.
The app UI is fresh and clean which is one of the reasons I chose Copilot compared to Tom toms dated one.
I'd 100% recommended Copilot to anyone for its ease of use, great features and free add ons and its price. Some might say, what about the 'free' sat-nav apps? I've used them before and although they do work, they have got me and itself lost numerous times, they just don't have the quality or functions as a paid for app does.
Good sat Nav but...
So I was sick of garmins and Tom toms eventually breaking or malfunctioning so I tried google maps. However gmaps helped to eat through my mobile data usage fairly quickly. I researched copilot and, because it had offline functionality and generally good features, I gave it a try. Easy to set up and use and good sat Nav instructions when driving (occasional oddities occur like voice command saying turn left when the map is saying turn right) but for the most part very good. However!!!.... Despite being cram packed full of features, the one simple thing that developers have missed is a volume adjust option for the voice commands!!!! When listening to music, the voice commands are significantly louder and boom at an uncomfortable level over music you listen to. Iv searched online and through all options and there is no way to change it. Il give five stars when this problem is sorted. Good app though apart from this.
Poor routing, poor support
Don't bother, it's rubbish.
Recently used this properly on a long road trip.
Google Maps, Apple Maps and many others picked a route which would avoid the coastal cities on a busy Bank Holiday weekend.
Copilot didn't. So I added a waypoint along the *correct* route. Copilot say "No route possible".
So I dragged the route FIVE TIMES. It routed fine. But I HAD TO SHOW IT THE WAY!
Even then, it said my 2 hour trip was going to take 4 hours. Guess what, I was there in 2 hours.
But!!! Only because I continually IGNORED Copilot when it got lost due to a road closure. The app just wanted to get me back to the first route "drag" point, instead of to my destination.
I gave it the benefit of the doubt on the way back. It found a route the matched Google Maps perfectly. But, AGAIN, it said it would take 4 hours. Guess what, I was home in 2 hours and 10 minutes.
The 10 minutes extra was due to the traffic jam that it didn't know about.
Incidentally, I was running Navmii (which is free) on a separate device. It spotted the traffic and wanted to route me around it.
Copilot + benefit of the doubt = FAIL.
I've contacted APK about these issues, they don't care and can't/won't make the app better.
Their solution is to show the app the way yourself. That's not sat nav. That's rubbish.
