There are several comments on here regarding not being able to receive audible alerts/warnings when iPhone is connected to car system via Bluetooth. Perhaps this has been recently fixed as with my car (merc E-class with Command System) I receive audible warnings when connected via Bluetooth. These warnings are via the iPhone speakers and with my car radio set to "normal" listening levels I have no difficulty hearing these warnings. I am still on a trial subscription but to date Cyclops has not missed a camera. The only error I have found to date is one wrong speed limit displayed for a potential mobile camera site, but overall Cyclops seems like a good system.
Useless and risky
I had high hopes for this app and paid up for full the version. Unfortunately my hopes were dashed when it turned out this app is pretty useless. It constantly misses well established speed cameras which have been around for years and despite using the in app facility to report these cameras over 10 times (something that itself is also frustratingly convoluted to do) in the last 6 months, Cyclops still doesn't have them on record and alert me to their presence. The idea the the app is community based and relies on people submitting cameras is a good one... but only if the submissions actually do something. Don't waste your money or worse still rely on this app to warn you about speed cameras and get a ticket when it fails to do so.
Good Detection. But when you can hear it
I've used this before on previous cars and iPhones. Camera position reporting works great. But alas on BMW at least you cannot hear the warning when connected to the system. The latest software for the iPhone doesn't mute the music so the warning voice is very quiet, the iPhone links to the car as if it were headphones. If you keep the phone stand alone and don't connect to the car you do hear the warnings via the iPhones own speaker so it needs to be quite near your ear and with the music turned down to a moderate level. Apart from this it is fine, but it is quite a big compromise.
