"Already released as a very impressive iPad app, historian Dan Snow's guide to 100 of Europe's most imposing castles helps you dig into text, photos and videos about the weapons, battles and sieges associated with them. Perfect for a spot of historical tourism."
Note: This app contains a selection of Europe's top castles, and is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to all castles in Europe. The video content (over 30 videos) requires a wi-fi internet connection (or fast 3G/4G) to view. The iPhone app contains a reduced set of content from the iPad app, and a has an interface optimised for the iPhone.
This a fabulous resource for anyone who is interested in medieval history. The app is intuitive, clear and highly engaging. There isn't another app out there that has this level of detail about castles - highly recommended!
Great multimedia content
This app is cram packed with content to discover and get stuck into. Well worth viewing Dan Snow's tour of the app first. Video and animation content is excellent, as would be expected, though some more cross reference links in the text would be fun.
With over 100 castles and details it's excellent value, too.
I thought I knew a lot about castles turns out not as much as Dan Snow.
Another masterpiece of medieval history, extremely easy to use and ram packed full of interesting information that's easily absorbed.
A real treat for anyone who loves castles as much as I do.
