Ratings and Reviews
Very good (at first, but...)
A minor setup glitch at first, but got it connected at second attempt. Simple setup, intuitive to use and beautifully designed. Really happy with this app and the product itself. Sets out to be a simple product without the unnecessary bells and whistles that no one uses, and it succeeds at this brilliantly. Well done.
Despite my positive review which I will leave unchanged, the connection broke overnight and nothing I do now works. Resetting, deleting and reinstalling, logging out and in, all to no avail. I now have a doorbell and chime that simply cannot connect to the app. This wasn’t ready for prime time. Hope I can get a refund.
Back connected, but here is the issue: the chime does not stay connected, which means the doorbell becomes useless at least once a week. Unless I check on the app I wouldn’t even know it’s disconnected. It is not a WiFi issue, it is so close to the router, and connects fine once I unplug the chime and plug it in again, but at most I get 5 days before it drops the connection. It is unfortunately not a reliable product. As an early backer I really wanted this to work. Once the new Arlo doorbell arrives in September I will buy that, Arlo products are reliable and their doorbell will give you the same functionality as Ome (Ding) plus more.
A product that could be great but has so many flaws
So many problems with Ding. Firstly the sticky pads it comes with are rubbish it fell off and marked the Ding straight away, Ding did replace it but it took weeks. I have used some no more nails pads this time.
When the replacement finally came the setup process took about an hour as I kept having to reset the devices as sometimes it would setup the devices but not the app causing me not to be able to complete setup.
Once the setup was done I pressed the ding doorbell it makes a very quiet sound on the ding speaker for about a second, if that. The doorbell itself makes a lot of noise though, not quite sure why, although the microphone on it is terrible and you can't hear the person at all (its primary function and it fails at it).
Now the ding speaker (chime) wont even detect its connected half the time, it will randomly disconnect.
Customer service is so unbelievably slow, they pick and choose what they want to reply to I have noticed. If you submit 2 queries they might reply to one but not the other. I have been waiting 4 days so far for a reply to one of my queries.
A welcome update
This update, amongst other improvements, considerably increases the volume of the Chime which, for those of us not in the first flush of youth, is very welcome. It also reliably allows more than one person to answer the doorbell - first responder stops call for all account holders. As with many new products it is only when they are ‘out in the field’ that differing consumers needs can be seen. The software team are to be congratulated on quickly responding to those needs. I look forward to further developments.
