Basic but worth downloading
The games does what it is supposed to. It is a great boredom buster. You can play dots 1 or 2 player, in easy or medium mode, (no hard mode).
And there isn't much more to it. The difficulty is moderate at best, and without the challenge of losing you can get pretty bored of winning so often. The easy mode is for children and the medium level is... for children. No one i have given this game to play has struggled with winning even their first game. This is probably because the maximum grid size is very small comparatively and means games are often concluded a minute or two after starting.
Despite not being difficult or involved enough, it still does well. It has a nice interface and is user friendly. It looks sharp and plays well. Not a bad app at all. A great 'go to' game for when you are bored.
Polished, good app
This is a pleasingly slick app with a nice set of options. Unlike some other apps for this game, it's reliable about where you've clicked. (This is partly achieved by restricting the board witldth and height to a few choices each, but mainly through good programming - thanks.) very nice.
Experts: If you rank above 1700 on yahoo dots or above 2000 on facebook dots and boxes game, then like all the other apps I can find, there's no challenge here, (unless you play as player 2 on a 5x6 board with "play again" turned off!) but it's a nice app all the same, and you can use 2-player mode to investigate possible strategies.
Great for what it is
This app is exactly what it says. It's basically the squares game where you draw lines between dots to make squares and whoever completes the most squares wins. There are difficulty levels for your opponent so you can challenge yourself when you're good at it. It's quite simple to place lines once you get the hang of it -you have to tap and hold your finger around where you want it and then drag your finger so it goes in the right place. There's also an undo button which is handy for if you've accidentally put your line in the wrong place.
Overall, very good.
