What's New in Version 1.1.0
New Custom Reward Egg
Great game. Includes lots of monsters to collect and train, has a nice storyline with reoccurring characters who grow as you do, and a tournament system allowing you to get unique rewards. Although the story has a plot twist you can see coming right from the start. Your able to combine certain monsters to creat even stronger ones, hatch monsters from eggs, and evolution.
But there is a problem....
There is a undeniable need for gold to purchase golden cards and eggs. As to 100% complete the game you must collect 3-4 of every dragon, which may sound easy but is incredibly hard. The first you get is your first monster, from then on it gets harder. You must either spend gold on golden eggs, and gamble if you'll get a dragon. Or spend hours grinding on single spots trying to find one.
I've also heard rumours of a sequel called Dragon Island Red, this would be very nice as by now it's clear they've stop producing updates for this game.
In a nut shell - brilliant game, with a few tweaks needed if they were to produce updates - More chances to get gold, or making dragons more common. Along with the hope of a sequel.
Really good start.
Dragon Island was a prefect introduction to the series. (I downloaded it when it went free.) It had everything the ideal pokemon spin off needed. Every single monster in the game was obtainable although some required serious grinding (no surprise). You could easily and unawarely waste hours on this game. At one time I ended up playing for 2 hours without even knowing it! Like Hunter Island there was one massive flaw, Hunter Island was the infamous bonus system which really made boss battles a pain and a test of luck. DIB was that the monsters in boss battles had unnaturally slightly higher stats (use analyse) which meant it would take serval times to actually defeat a boss. It needed the right tactics and patience. Just like HI it required serious grinding to level up all your monsters. Oh well it was worth it.
Took the best elements of Pokemon and yugioh (not a perfect comparison but it's what I think of), took out a the annoying console exclusivity, took out the hand holding of recent Pokemon games making them too easy and kept me entertained for days. Art style is beautiful, everything looks crisp and fresh, and doesn't try too hard to create realism or any over-the-top graphical effects. Had they given this a MK-esque "realistic" art style, it would just seem generic and probably run slowly. The best comparison I can think of for the art is Wind Waker (the original version) vs the first COD, WW still looks excellent, realism needs constant updating to look half decent at any given time. Fantastic.
