Dream:ON is the app to help influence your dreams. Over 11million dreams have been recorded so far! Before use, please read the IMPORTANT notes below.
• All Soundscapes are now FREE once you've downloaded •

Featured across the world on The BBC, LA Times, The Daily Mail, The Guardian, The Telegraph, Mashable, T3 and Sky News - launched at the Edinburgh International Science Festival 2012 by psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman from the University of Hertfordshire.

Dream:ON is showing results for about 50% of users who try it for a several nights in a row. It will not work for everyone and can take a number of nights to see results.

Approach the experiment with an open mind, try and forget your taking your phone to bed and remember controlled dreaming is not like turning on a tap, for some users it works the first night, others can take longer. As soon as you awake, complete the Dream Diary and feed back via the app so that we can continue to improve Dream:ON. for FAQ, support and video.

Dream:ON requires iOS 5.0 or greater.

Put your device on the corner of the bed before going to sleep and Dream:ON begins monitoring your sleep pattern.

When it senses that you are dreaming, it plays a 'SoundScape' which has been crafted to help create your desired dream.

"We have created a new way of carrying out mass
participation experiments. We still know relatively
little about the science of dreaming and this app
may provide a real breakthrough in changing how
we dream, and record and track those dreams."
~ Professor Richard Wiseman

Dream:ON contains a state-of-the-art monitoring engine which will optimise itself. Remember to record your dreams and experiences so everyone can have sweet dreams.

Research has shown that most our dreams occur during REM sleep and that your mind is particularly alert to other senses during this stage of sleep.

Dream:ON plays the 'SoundScape' to your subconscious during REM.

Almost everyone dreams several times each night. However, research suggests that people vary in their ability to incorporate the SoundScapes into their dreams and it may take several nights before Dream:ON is effective.

Lucid and controlled dreaming is not a new concept, however, using an iPhone to identify when you are at your most responsive, is. For many people who have mastered the art of lucid dreaming, this was a skill learnt over many years.

You can view a graph of your movement during your sleep, tag Facebook friends who appeared in your dreams, and post a short description of your dream to our experimental 'Dream Bank'.

The 'Dream Bank' will be used to examine lots of different issues, including whether men and women differ in their dreams, how dreams vary with age, and if world events impact on the nation's dreams. All data sent to Dream:ON is totally anonymous.

What's New in Version 2.0.2

We were hoping for 10,000 people to join Dream:ON... we had 300,000 in the first week! Thank you to everyone involved!

Version 2.0.2 fixes a crash some people had when launching after the last update.

We have spent a lot of time reviewing all the feedback, and have made a whole bunch of improvements for version 2.0:

— Screen turns off fully on iPhones

— You can leave portrait-lock on

— 10 more alarm sounds

— iPod and iPad support

— Vastly improved accessibility (VoiceOver) for users with visual impairments

— Select a song from your device's music library as an alarm

— Really fast sleep-graph!

— Much more sensitive to your movements in the night

— Soundscapes now adjust their volume more actively so they don't wake you up as much (this may still happen, everyone sleeps differently)

— Improved self-calibration (helps with movement detection)

— An improved the Dream Store and Diary

— There were also a few bugs that we have fixed, and we've worked hard to increase performance under-the-hood

If you have any issues using Dream:ON, you can contact us from the Information page of the app, or by emailing Remember, we can't reply to comments on iTunes, so please help us by emailing your thoughts, questions and suggestions.

Great app

I started using this app as I wanted something to help me lucid dream (something I found much easier when younger). We are all different and I think this app is perhaps dependant on your type of bed and where you position your device (I keep it plugged in and face down on the corner of my bed nearest my head). I have had great success with it lately and have been using the lucid dreamscapes. Admittedly I've only had a couple of lucid dreams, but the other nights have normally been very dream rich, even if not lucid (without the app running, I am not normally aware of any dreams at all!) I also find that my dreaming does not normally relate to the specified dreamscape (though the 50 shades one did work last night). I am hopeful that this may improve with continued use of the app and also my ability to recognise when I am dreaming so as to become lucid. This app will probably not help you to become lucid within one try, but I believe firmly that if you use it correctly and persevere, you will notice a positive increase with your dreaming ability. I'm surprised by the negative reviews but I urge you to give this app a try, it's free and I think it's great!

This app is no where near to working. The idea is good but executed badly. It never plays the soundscape during your REM phase, it only plays its 20-30 minutes before your alarm is supposed to wake you. You're completely screwed if you have a lie in the next morning and don't actually want an alarm to wake you up. You then set it for 11am or something like that and you may end up waking up around 10 and decide you've had enough sleep. If that's the case then you've just wasted the whole night of a possible lucid dream but your app hasn't gone off yet and won't till about half 10 (30 minutes before the alarm). I do a lot of early shifts so I'm often setting my alarm for 4:30 and sleeping around midnight. The other dream app I use (DreamZ) tells me that my first rem rep is usually 90 minutes after falling asleep. That means the soundscape should be going off then, not at 4am. All it did this morning was wake me up from my 'deep' sleep which frustrated me as I still had 30 minutes before my alarm went off. If you want a soundscape to go off when you are ACTUALLY in your rem phase then download DreamZ. Yes it costs £2.49 but this app proves that you get what you pay for. Rant over.

U.S.A.T App Testing Society - Dream: ON

This app needs some working on. My colleagues and I simply experimented the app. The problems in duration of our experience included:
↦ Timer setting off incorrectly
↦ Draining battery
↦ Lucid Dreams are completely fake
↦ The 'Time when I am in a deep sleep' button is fake.
The 'Time when I am dreaming' button is also fake, as we have experimented many unique people to test this current dilemma. It does not depend on the person. We have chosen people around our Communtiy, estimating 34, and we instructed them to lie completely still, eyes closed. The time showed one o'clock in the afternoon, however, the patient slept for thirty minutes (19:05-19:35). The Lucid dreams do not work on any specific person. Sound waves currently in this century can only be unfaultily detected with cables/wires attached to the head, detecting any images, which occur in the REM (rapid eye movement). We do not fully recommend this app, or purchases. In your next update, please improve every one of the listed, as well as a refund button. This is currently a big scam. However, the animating was acceptable, and had a lengthy duration placed into the project. The buttons weren't faulty, and the system did not appear as glitchy or lagging. Good luck for future updates, and a well done for producing with the animations.
