Great app when i started using it correctly

I've been an Evernote user for a few years but not really actively. I started using the service as a bookmarking tool for inspiration and article (I'm a designer so try and keep a record of things I like). For this I found Evernote too heavy without the benefits of something like Dragdis or even simple browser bookmarking. It was after going freelance that I really began to find the app useful. It lets you make todos, photograph documents, has a nice note taking interface plus a lot of other features that removed my need for using a whole set of separate apps and let me put everything in one searchable bucket. So using it as a tool to organise your life or business works but for simple bookmarking, especially visual bookmarking look elsewhere.

Best note taking app ever - period.

Evernote has been around for ever so the occasional blip in one release or another (either functional or in the UI) simply doesn't worry me anymore - they always get there.

Stick with this product and it will deliver. (Web, Offline, PC, Mac, IOS etc) great sync, integrations, sharing and lots of other great features.

I am, however, skeptical about trying to make one tool do absolutely everything and I think if you try to do that (either as the designer or the user) there are likely to be compromises. Swiss army knives are great but I wouldn't eat my dinner with one every day instead of the proper tool.

Evernote does great text/image/audio notes with masses of integrations with other apps so I would personally focus on that.

Todos/GTD? ... hmmm ... you can but I would stick with Things or Omnifocus (which of course aren't very good at notes and much more expensive ...)

Bibliography/papers/citations? .. hmmm .. you can but I would stick with Papers/Endnote or Mendeley which aren't very good at notes and are mostly much more expensive.

I've been using Evernote for many years and it is one of the few apps that has ALWAYS been in my workflow across all my devices.

Love it.
