What's New

Version 7.2.1

Evernote for Mac 7.2.1 GA Release Notes
• App Store localization enhancements for select regions.

Evernote for Mac 7.2 GA Release Notes

• You now can automatically download and install all updates. That’s one less thing to take care of.
• While editing an attachment in an outside program, you might have lost all your work if the note got deleted in a crash. Now, you will get a prompt to save these changes to a new note, rescuing your hard work.

• Sometimes it would all come crashing down when PDFs were annotated, but no more.
• Now and then, nested tags would collapse when they weren’t supposed to, which was slightly embarrassing.
• When you merged notes and synced, the notes’ images, PDFs, or audio didn’t always come along for the ride.
• If you removed a notebook from your shortcuts, sometimes the notebook would no longer be displayed anywhere, as if it mysteriously disappeared altogether.
• Drag and drop was sometimes interfering with copy and paste, causing copied content to not paste correctly. Can’t we all just get along?
• When you shared a note through iMessage, sometimes it only shared the title instead of the entire note, which wasn’t particularly useful.
• Sometimes you put a URL in a note and then the content wouldn’t load, which was a bummer.
• When you added an image, rotated it, and then had a change of heart and hit undo, you somehow lost everything in your note. This was, admittedly, a bit of an overreaction.
• If you didn’t have the ‘Show Notes in Groups’ sort option checked off, then you were unable to see the title of the note at the top of the list in Snippet View. A very specific wrong that has now been righted.

Evernote Business updates:
• You’ll see more relevant search results, thanks to some work we did under the hood.
• The member list for a space sometimes showed blank users, which was a little spooky, but it’s all resolved now.
• The widgets in a space were displaying an ‘unable to load’ message, which you very reasonably did not want to see. But it’s now a thing of the past.

Literally nobody thinks of the blind

Honestly, I’ve lost count of the number of apps I’ve had to write similar reviews for. Great concept, but for users like myself, blind users who rely on VoiceOver to accomplish literally EVERY TASK WE EVER DO, it’S almost completely unusable. Apple really should make it a requirement to submit accessible applications, but until that’s a thing you’re going to have to put in a little more effort to get my five stars. COME ON! You’re one of the most FAMOUS apps on the app store, one of the modern day shapers of the entire industry, and you didn’t think to add support for the visually impaired? It’s NOT DIFFICULT! I’m willing to do any testing as required so long as this gets solved. I’m dying for a decent application for organising my hundreds of ideas and research notes, and yours is SO VERY NEARLY THERE, but I can’t even read the titles of notes I’ve saved, let alone their contents, BECAUSE THE DAM APP IS INACCESSIBLE!

Exceptionally easy way to organise your notes

I’m currently unertaking my MSci year in university, and this app is a God-send! Allows me to collate all my notes for a particular project into one place, keeping a detailed record of the journals I’ve read etc. Syncs between my Macbook and Galaxy S8 giving me redundancy if either fails. The 60MB per month upload limit on the free plan isn’t a restriction at all, at least in my case, nor is the max note size limit. All in all, a fantastically simple way to keep organised and ensure that your notes are safe.

Life Transformed

I have used Word, BBEDIT, Notes and Scrivener, all are good, but Evernote allows me to organise. It shows me word count. I can speak into my phone while walking. It saves small text files. They are saved within a simple hierarchy. When I arrive home, it is already synched and filed on my laptop waiting for me to re-edit and continue. I also have other mac devices an iPad and a small mac air. Evernote is everywhere I want it on all my devices, always synched up, always organised, always there. I love you evernote.
