Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan).
Not just for Facebook friends: Message people in your phone book and just enter a phone number to add a new contact.
Group chats: Create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place.
Photos and videos: Shoot videos and snap selfies or other photos right from the app and send them with one tap.
Free calls: Talk as long as you want, even with people in other countries. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.)
Even more ways to message:
Bring your conversations to life with stickers.
Preview your camera roll photos and videos without leaving the conversation--then choose the perfect ones to send.
Record voice messages when you have more to say.
Know when people have seen your messages.
Forward messages or photos to people who weren't in the conversation.
Search for people and groups to quickly get back to them.
Turn on location to let people know when you're nearby.
See who's available on Messenger and who's active on Facebook.
Turn off notifications when you're working, sleeping or just need a break.
Stay logged in so you never miss a message.

Functional but sometimes a wreck.
I don't have any problems with this app except for the following. One is that profile picture updates on the Facebook app don't correspond on the Messenger app which is really off-putting, especially when someone has changed their profile picture and you're stuck with their old one. A second problem is that when sending photos or cropping images/adding filters it'll just send the normal, unedited image, which really bugs me. A third problem is the inability to log out – I don't want to have to delete the Messenger app JUST to log out. Overall a good app, however it's constantly bugged.
Profile Update Issues
So I changed my profile picture on Facebook app a month ago now, but on my messenger app it still shows the old profile picture!
You bring out updates every 2 weeks or so, but by doing this your making users think that your app is not completely functional yet, a good developer or company would review their products and services and then push the update, but it seems as if your company is more into counting money than fixing issues. So what was the purpose of making an standalone messaging app anyways?
Well no need to worry, there is a company thats working for a Facebook alternative, which should be released within next year. So, I guess I will be moving soon.
I have been using Facebook for a good few years now and I find that most of it is very good, you can make free calls to friends and message them also face to face talk now when you call them . However there are are a people on their who should not be aloud on as they are the sickos who don't care about others I wish Facebook would sort this out soon to make Facebook a much better place for the rest of us.
