Customer Reviews

New update - no change?

Latest version, then: seems exactly the same as before.

It's really pointless leaving any feedback here isn't it? An update with no noticeable changes every fortnight then I post the same review. First day after the update shows a stream of one star reviews with the same concerns and these are then buried as we approach the next meaningless update. Weird. Anyway - here's my usual review that lists the same problems (and the same problems everyone has) every two weeks...

Latest news stream is worse than ever - totally out of sync with 'Most Recent' (the option everyone seems to want) and full of days old nonsense.

Separate Messenger app uses needless memory on my phone and I could really do without it.

The main app caches so much data I regularly need to delete it and reinstall when it approaches half a gig - my phone doesn't have the memory space to sustain this.

The fortnightly updates are a great wheeze - all the negative reviews get archived once a fortnight and so anyone reading them doesn't see the complaints about being forced to install Messenger, regular crashes and a stupid news feed system that makes it hard to use FB the way you want (ie 'Most Recent').

A cynical strategy from a cynical company. Shame users wishes aren't listened to... and are now archived once a fortnight to start afresh. This just isn't a company that seems to listen to it's user base.

Mixed opinions

Good things about this app:
It's relatively true to the website.
I haven't experienced any app crashes in a long time.
Updates seem to happen in real-time.
Integration with fantastic app, Messenger.

Most notable bad things about this app:
No way to see "Most Recent" posts on your dashboard as a default. You can only do this by navigating the somewhat confusing sub-menus. Default is "Top Posts".
On iPad, if you are playing video/audio on an external link through Facebook (eg a video embedded in a news article clicked on through the app) and then leave the article to go back to your newsfeed, the audio keeps playing. It's very annoying. I have not experienced this on my iPhone though so it may be an iPad-exclusive bug.
Notifications are turned on by default for livestreams, whether you care about the page livestreaming or not. It is very annoying.

This only gets 3 stars as in my opinion, the bad parts of the app are annoying enough and disruptive enough to my experience with the app to balance out the good parts.
It's considerably better than it used to be a couple of years ago though. I hope it continues to improve and change these issues.

Live Stream Feature

My iPhone 5C is up to date with the latest software, latest updates with Facebook, but what I would to point out, since roughly a month ago, I've attempted to Live Stream from my iPhone 5C and the video comes out fine, but people have been saying I'm "lagging", it's not lag, I believe there is a bug with the sound output, it comes out choppy and "lag-like", so hope Facebook could fix this soon, as I miss live streaming and talking to my friends. But overall great app, works smooth for me.
