Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Facebook doesn’t run GPS in the background unless you give us permission by turning on optional features that require this.
What's New in Version 29.0
Thanks for using Facebook! To make our app better for you, we bring updates to the App Store every 2 weeks. You can update the app automatically (without checking back here) by going to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Automatic Downloads and turning on Updates.
Every update of our Facebook app includes improvements for speed and reliability. As other new features become available, we’ll highlight those for you in the app.
New update - no change?
Latest version, then: seems exactly the same as before.
It's really pointless leaving any feedback here isn't it? An update with no noticeable changes every fortnight then I post the same review. First day after the update shows a stream of one star reviews with the same concerns and these are then buried as we approach the next meaningless update. Weird. Anyway - here's my usual review that lists the same problems (and the same problems everyone has) every two weeks...
Latest news stream is worse than ever - totally out of sync with 'Most Recent' (the option everyone seems to want) and full of days old nonsense.
Separate Messenger app uses needless memory on my phone and I could really do without it.
The fortnightly updates are a great wheeze - all the negative reviews get archived once a fortnight and so anyone reading them doesn't see the complaints about being forced to install Messenger, regular crashes and a stupid news feed system that makes it hard to use FB the way you want (ie 'Most Recent').
A cynical strategy from a cynical company. Shame users wishes aren't listened to... and are now archived once a fortnight to start afresh. This just isn't a company that seems to listen to it's user base.
I like the fb app think it's quicker than going through the actual Internet but I have had a few wee problems like uploading photos or things it runs slow or kicks u out other than that a few wee glitches all is fine I would say my phone and Internet access is quite fast so things go quick. Overall a good app in my opinion. I'm lost without my fb so all good from me 👍👍.
Updates all the time to hide negative feedback
If it wasn't for the fact I want to keep in touch with old friends I would close my account. Dubious privacy, ignoring what users want... Latest posts instead of out of date top posts by default ... Messages app that I'll never download. While it might be true that if you don't pay for a service, you are the service(product) how will Facebook fare when more people minimise there usage as I have done or leave all together?
PS For those who don't want messenger try 'Friendly' its not perfect but usable.
