Editors' Notes

If you live and breathe appointments and meetings, Fantastical was built for you. Not only does it offer a broad range of different ways to view your calendars and reminders, adding an event is as easy as talking to a digital assistant. And with support for widgets and Apple Watch, you’ll never forget an important event again.

Initially loved it but this soon became frustration

I initially like this app, but the features that it is trying to be clever with are actually extremely frustrating. They are also not controllable in settings. For example, if you type Christmas in a meeting subject it changes the meeting date to Christmas Day. Or if you write London in the meeting title it takes that word out the title and puts it in the location box. It also randomly applies reminders even though I have turned this off in settings - sometimes 3 reminders are applied. Seems to depend on how the new appointment is set up as to how it behaves. All these things require extra faffing around to correct which is annoying, especially if you’re adding a meeting in a rush. To the point where I use my iPhone calendar app to schedule things now. I am going to give it a couple more weeks to see if any fixes are applied and if not I will delete the app. I have been providing this feedback for quite some time but unfortunately it’s remained the same.

It’s ok

The landscape view would be more useful as a portrait graphical week view option. But it’s not the end of the world.
Biggest negative for me is contact address linking. It’s puts (home) or (work) in brackets as part of the address and that seems to stop iOS from giving me travel time notifications.

Otherwise the smart language parsing on event creation is great. If it could recognise contacts as part of said parsing for the address that would be awesome. If I could also have an option to remove the aforementioned (home) etc in brackets I’d give this app 5 stars.

But as it is I’m either back to the stock iOS calendar or using week calendar.
