I have to say that considering the fact that this is a full length RPG with dozens of hours worth of gameplay when all chapters are accounted for, the price tag seems fair to me. The gaming experience was an enjoyable one. The only reason I knocked off one star was that the narrative left me somewhat unfulfilled. I can't help but feel it is a rehash of the same story we have heard many times before. Seriously, crystals are getting old!
However, where the story may be lacking, the gameplay more than makes up for it. Its take on the job system which is so loved among the final fantasy community is great fun to work with. As always, being able to alter a character's specialisms whenever they so please still makes way for great diversity in your party, which is always a plus. Overall, if you liked final fantasy 1-6, there is no reason you won't like this.
A poor offering
Such a shame that Square have opted for the freemium snare of letting you play the prologue then charging you to purchase the rest of the chapters...
Final Fantasy Dimensions is certainly not worth the hefty price tag considering you can buy some of the better FFs in the series for a lot less.
Square would be better off enticing a new generation of FF players with low prices rather than trying to squeeze every penny from their dwindling fan base whilst offering very little in the way of new content.
70+ hours of play
This is a worthy successor to the gameplay of the early FF games, closest to FF5 in my opinion, and they've captured the charm and humour as well. Plus, for me at least, it gave a good 70 hours of play, longer than any of the others except FF Tactics!
