Editors' Notes

One of the most influential RPGs of all time, Final Fantasy VII takes you on an unforgettable journey through a harsh and unforgiving sci-fi landscape. Packed with tense turn-based combat and an extraordinary story, Square Enix’s masterpiece is as exhilarating now as it was when it was first released in 1997.

The best Final Fantasy ever

MixerEarth

I've played nearly every game from the franchise and this is the only one I've played more than once. Once you start to get into the story, you'll want to find out more.

The story is so deep (unlike the much overrated FF6) and interesting. Plus there are so many characters (from sequels and spin-offs) who's backgrounds are intertwined with this original FF7 game. You may end up addicted to this compilation because every character's background is so well-written and tied together. Without sounding like a complete nerd, there's real character development for almost every one of the protagonists (unlike FF6). You gain a real insight into what these characters are like and really grow to like them.

If you've never played Final Fantasy before then I'd recommend that you start with this game. It's a good introduction to modern RPG games and was influential within the RPG genre back in the late 90s when it was first released.

This version stays true to the original PS1 version. Graphics are still blocky and ugly but I never had a problem with the performance of this version of the game.

Fantastic!!!

Ok, I wanted to address some "complaints". Most people who buy this are fans of the playstation format. That said, to my eyes, improvements or upgrades are unwelcome. I, and I suspect many others, bought this for the original experience. I say this because complaints about graphics, gameplay etc is pointless. The original wasn't perfect but we all love it for its uniqueness. To address a small point, slowdown on the map seems to happen when you exit a town or the high wind from cockpit view. If you tap menu button and exit this rights the issue. A small pain but nothing's perfect. Overall I'm extremely happy with the transition onto iPad.
