To use this first direct Banking on the go app you need to be a first direct customer and registered for first direct Internet Banking.
We know that you like to manage your money when you’re ‘on the go’. That’s why we’ve created this app. It allows you to see and use some of your Internet Banking services more easily on a smaller screen.
Our app allows you to:
• view balances and up to your last 90 transactions
• make transfers between your accounts with us
• make payments to a person or organisation you have paid before using Internet Banking
You’ll still need to log on to full Internet Banking at firstdirect.com regularly to access all services. We recommend you do this at least every 14 days. Some of the Internet Banking services that you can only access by logging on at firstdirect.com are:
• full statement information
• details of monthly charges, fees and interest
• sending, receiving and viewing attachments of secure messages
• setting up payments to a person or organisation you haven’t paid before
• cancelling or amending a payment you have set up
We don’t charge you for this app, but we can’t say the same for your network provider, who may charge you for downloading and using the app. You’ll be responsible for these charges.
We recommend that you don’t use this app abroad, but if you do, you’ll need to make sure that it’s permitted by local law, and remember your network provider’s charges may be higher.
The app may be withdrawn at any time; we will tell you if this is going to happen.
It’s important that you only download apps in accordance with the terms and conditions that you have agreed with Apple.
What's New in Version 184.108.40.206
Our updated first direct Banking on the go app for iPhone and iPad. We've focused this release on adding a few look and feel improvements to make the app easier to use. These include:
- Adding Bill Payment and Transfer shortcut buttons to the bottom of the Balances and Transactions screens
- A new numeric keypad to make it quicker to enter amounts
- Tweaking the menu so that the most popular options are visible without further touches

These bad reviews look faked?!
Seriously!? They sound like techies, NOT fd customers! Review after review about Barclays comparisons, 'back end support', 'mobile banking clients' -- this is the language of developers, NOT of first direct customers (I work with developers, I should know). I've never reviewed the fd app before, used it for as long as it's been available, THIS release prompted me to say thanks 'cos it's so clean & fast. I haven't had to do full log in in forever, so why are other reviewers saying that? These reviews just don't ring true. So, THANK YOU, fd developers, fine job.
Poor example of banking app
This is such a poor second, actually third choice app for mobile banking. If you compare this to the Barclays mobile banking client the first direct app is a joke. Feels like a prototype that is still being worked on. Had very basic functionality. The most disappointing fact is that there is such a lag between transaction history refresh and actual banking transactions. It takes at least 24 hours before you see an accurate current account balance. Come on pls!!! We are living in a near real time society. I don't want to see what my balance was yesterday. I can live with some latency but FD are a distance behind the competition.
Fix it or be left behind is my simple message.
Feature wise it's ok...
I like the latest update but...
I use this app a lot and while it has the features I need I find the app very slow. It's so frustrating that every single page takes time to fully load. The pages seem to open in a reasonable amount of time but then you are stuck watching the progress spinner icon for what feels like forever! I don't understand why this is as you can see the information on the page but can't do anything until the spinner goes away!
I do like the look & feel of this app but please speed up access times! It's so bad that I sometimes end up using my phones browser to access the full site!
After 3 attempts to pay a bill this morning via the app I decided to post this review. I know it wasn't my internet connection as I tried my wifi and mobile data connections.
