The low FODMAP diet app has been developed in partnership with medical experts and dietitians from Kings College and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. The app enables you to search for suitable packaged UK foods when following the low FODMAP diet.

Dietary triggers are difficult to identify but research has shown that some carbohydrates (FODMAPs) may contribute to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Restricting FODMAP intake has been shown to improve these symptoms caused by ibs food intolerance but this may not apply to everyone. The low FODMAP diet has been shown to be effective in managing IBS symptoms in up to 70% of people.

Using the app you will be able to manage all three stages of the low fodmap ibs diet to create a FODMAP plan, search and scan barcodes to find FODMAP friendly foods. Improve your chances of successfully following the low FODMAP diet and then re-introducing foods to understand the ingredients that are triggering your symptoms.

Key features:
• Scan barcodes to check FODMAP friendly foods
• Search quickly and easily for everyday FODAMP diet foods
• Share your re-introduction charts with your clinician/dietitian
• Quick FODMAP food check and guidance on portion sizes
• Regularly updated tips & tricks from the dietitian
• Create your own personalised FODMAP profile
• At each stage track and record your symptoms
• Full product ingredient and nutrition facts from food label
• Create your own personalised shopping lists

The app should be used in consultation with a healthcare professional.

This is far from being a good app.

I found this app useful when I was on a strict low Fodmap diet, as it made shopping much easier and faster due to its bar-code scanning. However, it is a poor app to get to know the Low-Fodmap diet. It simply lacks the rigor and clarity of the Monash University app.
Another important way in which it fails is that it doesn't allow to filter the user's preferences, if somebody is ok with GOS, but is intolerant to Fructose, for instance. Or, simply, if somebody is a bit more sensitive to some type of fermentable sugar. I suffered of a bad reactionwith some product that had a nice green light next to it.
But the worst feature is that besides crashing regularly, now I have just found out that it has sent me an invoice that I didn't request for a renewal for another year because their subscription system has changed. This is simply not OK, and FoodMaestro need to do more than just sending an informative email a month ago. Especially with people to whom they had already offered a free subscription for another year due to the technical problems suffered.
This is certainly not the best app for those on a Low-Fodmap diet.

Really terrible UX

Im not mad keen on this app if I'm honest. I don't always buy stuff in packets (if you do you may have a better time). I'd have thought individual items lists were a necessary prior to moving on to technical functionality like barcode scanners, but ho hey. This morning I wanted to type in 'banana'...I got one from my local shop you see. But you can't just do this, you MUST go to fruit, you couldn't just click 'banana' and it take you there. As it happens, in 'fruit' you can only select things in packets - and bananas don't exist? Neither does straight up black tea...it has to be the packet. Really annoying.
I find the app itself very difficult to use (I actually work in UX and I can't quite work out the logic). I really wanted this to work as well, the idea is great!

Stopped working 😔

This was a really useful app as it helped when shopping - being new to fodmap I was using the booklets given to me but the app was better when shopping as some of the allowed foods turned out not to be allowed when scanning them as they had hidden ingredients - few issues as mentioned with it crashing, but that was ok until now - it has stopped working altogether and says no internet connection ( there is) I'm logged out and can no longer use the app. Very disappointed - would've given it 5 stars but has to be 1 now as not working
