Love the app but theres a catch
I love shopping on geek for items i wouldnt normally get or stocking fillers etc.... but like many more posts shipping seems excessive in some cases for example a bag costs £5 but needed 2 even though baught from the same seller at the same time the £5 postage became £10 and £10 for the 2 bags =£20 still not to fussed at the time i made the purchase, reflecting back when i used to work in this area myself the weight or size of the parcel wouldn’t have changed much and could have been posted together for the £5 postage charge. Also buying many stocking filler items this Christmas even though cheap I noticed on buying roughly 20 items that the postage was over three times more than the price of the stocking filler gifts, but this doesn’t put me off that much as in some cases the items are still cheaper than elsewhere but some are not so be alert and aware when buying and use common sense I love this app and it is very addictive easy to spend money that you don’t need to.
Shipping costs significantly increased, sneakily..
This used to be good, but now I find myself using eBay, because they’ve jacked up the shipping to a level that no longer fits the market that your product is being shipped from. I’m suspecting that Wish May be jacking the shipping costs up taking a cut from the shipping charge. This is because it’s happened across the board, but only on this app -not on eBay, where I find I can get faster shipping of the same items for less.
I also find it quite off-putting that the steep shipping costs are hidden from the product description -the app knows your account, so the shipping could easily be shown with the price, but it isn’t, and it seems pretty obvious that it’s kept out of the equation in the hopes that you might not notice.
I have also noticed that trying to reorder an item, can sometimes happen with a jacked up shipping charge, so that deal you thing you just reordered wasn’t as good a deal the second time because an extra £1 had surreptitiously been added to the shipping compared to the item you just received.
This wish marketplace app used to be great, but I guess good things don’t last forever...
Was great until it became popular
This was a great site wish and geek are the same company I think but geek shipping charges are way more than wish , it used to be really cheap to purchase items until the steep shipping came into effect .. one item I purchased the shipping was almost double the cost of the item and I found it way cheaper on eBay and the mega plus plus for me was no shipping charge , so it’s a no brainier really .. after all that said I do purchase items still from wish & geek but I am carful now and sometimes compare on both sites . It used to be worth the wait to get the items because you paid less
Another thing if the item doesn’t show they as you to wait , then when you remember it’s not arrived they say sorry you passed the allotted time so you can’t claim , so now I keep note on my phone wait 5 days and then ask for a refund . That way you don’t lose out
