Go Jauntly is a new community-based app that puts you in closer contact with outdoor adventures on your doorstep. Use it to discover walks nearby (and far away!), curate your own and share them with friends and the community. We call it happiness outdoors.
As we live and work in London, which has an amazing 47% green space made up of more than 3,000 individual parks and two national nature reserves, it seemed sensible to start our adventure here. Our first version of Go Jauntly is London based but don't worry – that doesn't mean you can't get involved if you're not in the capital! In fact, it's quite the opposite. We want to grow the Go Jauntly community to every nook and every cranny of, well, everywhere! So no matter where you are, download the app, add your own walks and spread the happiness outdoors.
And please do let us know what you think, as we are still in Beta and we’d love to hear your feedback as we work to improve Go Jauntly.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH GO JAUNTLY?
Discover walks:
Find new walks based on your location. Simple photo guides help you navigate while nifty tips point out things of interest and places to eat and use the loo. Save the walks you love so they're easy to find whenever you get itchy feet!
Curate your own:
Got your own walk you particularly love? Use Go Jauntly to document your route, take photos to create your guide and add details that other people may find useful or interesting.
Share with friends:
Add your walk to the Go Jauntly community. And don't just share it digitally – share it in the real world too by taking friends and family on your newly created jaunt!
JOIN THE COMMUNITY!
The Go Jauntly community is a growing number of people from every walk of life. Whether you're a city worker keen to discover somewhere new and nearby for a lunchtime stroll, a parent looking for something fun to do with the kids, or someone who fancies finding somewhere new and inspiring to exercise, the community is about discovery, sharing and celebrating the outdoors in all its guises. So come on in!

• Search walks based on your location and tailor the results to the preferences you set such as location, walking time and the walk's features (everything from parking nearby to whether they’re child and dog friendly).
HEALTH AND WELLBEING
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence describes walking as “the most likely way all adults can achieve the recommended levels of physical activity”.
The simple act of going for a walk is good for your body, brain and soul. Plus, it’s fun and free! And as we built Go Jauntly we discovered some compelling facts:
• NHS studies state that regular walking has been shown to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, asthma, strokes and some cancers.
• The Department of Health estimates that physical inactivity could be costing the UK economy up to £20 billion a year in healthcare, sickness absences and premature deaths.
• Macmillan Cancer Support says regular walking could prevent 37,000 deaths every year.
Confronted with statistics like these, we really wanted to create something that everyone could use every day, no matter where you live or how much time you can spare.
