update spoils easy intuitive useability

was brilliant and so easy to use, if rather patchy on translations (it's best used for languages you speak as a very useful 'broad-brush' assistant), but suddenly it's a lot more cumbersome and counter-intuitive to use since the last update, dropped from 4 stars to 2 or 3 stars and definitely 2 stars for intuitiveness/ease of use now - everything is slower to do, half the stuff you've written is no longer shown on screen when scrolling down through past stuff so not easy to pick the right one, also seems slower/more awkward to cut and paste and again half the screen is missing off the top when you're switching back-and-forth (and it's so important to be able to switch around and cut and paste and add/delete stuff easily, to keep checking stuff when the translation is not quite right and you're using your languages knowledge and the app in parallel, as many do I imagine), a shame as before the update this app was so intuitive and easy to use, fast and almost perfect operationally, now it's a bit of a mess and big step backward and a big shame, as the new features are fairly pointless and ruin what was good, like some of Facebook's rubbish updates a few years back - as Apple and the K.I.S.S, ('keep it simple stupid') principle have proved, sometimes a nicely put together 'less' is actually 'more', to steal from Mies van der Rohe...

Fundamentally Flawed

This app is great a translating is fast and has some great features.

However none of this can be used when you actually need it due to its reliance on a constant data connection. As you can actually download the data required for translation for the instant camera facility (which happens to be only feature that doesn't work that well) it must be there. I understand that you need a data connection for speech (you need the same for Google Search, Siri, Cortana, etc) but surely we are at a stage where text can be translated without an Internet connection. After all it is basically doing the same thing with the picture facility only with a pre-approved font.

The new camera feature is absolutely brilliant. I never thought I'd be able to hover my camera for a second over text and read it in several different languages instantly.

Obviously, it's a new feature, and is always going to need improvements as people have mentioned, but you have to expect that from something like this. Even now, I find it so useful and reliable.
