Ratings and Reviews
I installed GraphicConverter from the app store and couldn’t get scanning to work using the TWAIN-SANE drivers (which let you use a scanner that is not directly supported by Apple).
I got very swift and prompt support from the developer of GraphicConverter, so that the problem was rapidly resolved. Due to Apple’s sandboxing of app-store applications it was necessary to download the version from the GraphicConverter web-site rather than use the app-store version. This was all sorted out quickly and the licence transfered without and questions / problems.
I think it is great when a developer really cares about there customers’ like this and makes me feel good to support such developers by buying their applications.
Massive and Great value for Money
I use GraphicConverter (GC) to look after about 13,000 photos. It is my default editor with iPhoto and I use it a lot to touch up old family photos. When I need to do something complicated the manual works well. Any problems, then your emails get answered promptly. The file handling aspect is extremely powerful and easy to use. Using GC to browse through folders of photos you can see, rename, rotate, convert (between about 60 formats), concatenate, delete or edit files instantly. I you need to be very organised and in control then GC may work better for you than iPhoto - you determine the file structure within the framework of the Finder. I could not do without GC's ability to manipulate lots of files. The Crop for Photo Service function efficiently allows me to crop exactly to the size of the print. Tedious tasks such as renaming, rotating, making icons, building a web index, re-indexing, resizing, adding EXIF or IPTC information are performed quickly on a large number of files. In summary this is a hugely professional program and very good value.
Very impressive and powerful
This is very useful and impressive graphic software. It does specialist things that are hard to do with any other graphics software. For example it reads obscure formats, does wonderful batch processes such as format changes and writing metadata … just far too much to list really. But it is not "beginner's walk you through it" software, it is more "techies expert software".
I use it in addition to Photoshop/Aperture and I find it very valuable. If you have serious graphics processing needs you will find this well worth the money. But if you are more of a dabbler looking for a general piece of graphics software you may prefer something like Aperture or Photoshop Elements.
I'll leave it to other reviewers to go into the details, I'll simply make the point that someone who just wants to edit a few photos will get on better with iPhoto and Aperture, this is designed to be for more technical and specialist graphics processing.
