I appreciate this 'curated version' of the paper, but ...

I very much appreciate being able to read something very akin to the 'real', physical paper. As in the broadsheet, long articles can be skimmed and still absorbed.

I'm also happy to buy the paper this way, in hopes that it will still be around for me to read in my old age.

BUT, this version has suffered from lack of investment over the past eighteen months. The interface is a bit clunky and can serve up pages which have to be reloaded before I can read them. I am particularly annoyed that many articles don't permit 'sharing' to save them for later - this looks like a bug, because other articles have this. Surely a high quality 'clippings archive service' is something you should be offering paying users?

Other issues concern the presentation of content. For a long time I thought that the app provided perfect copies of all the pages in the paper, but now I'm no so sure. It's also disappointing to read 'see picture alongside' when there is no such picture - this is a matter of improving the system which journalists use to produce the original content. Finally, I am regularly caught out by the 'Long Read', which is easy to recognise in the physical version of the paper, but entirely lacking in any kind of indicator in the.

I hope that the Guardian group can afford to invest more in the app.

Make no mistake, this is the future

There's always been a copy of the guardian or the observer in my house, but instead of just getting your news from the website, this iPad edition gives you each day's newspaper in a delightful and vibrant user interface, much much better than a simple scan of the actual paper. The contend that the iPad edition is actually superior to the newspaper because of things like the hyperlinks contained within it. You're never stuck as the journalist drops an esoteric phrase that you can so easily look up in seconds. Not to mention it saves paper. I get so much from the guardian and the observer. I'm happy, and it's much cheaper than travelling to your local newsagent every day!

I'm surprised to find I like my digital newspaper ! I still buy a paper newspaper at the weekends and wouldn't be without them but I like being able to just catch up on news items whenever or have a browse when I've time to spare. It's easy to use, sometimes the crossword is missing which is mildly annoying, easy to read. Why is the crossword not the same as in the newspaper I wonder ? I'm happy so please don't go fiddling around with it so I don't know where I am ! Thanks for maintaining good quality journalism.
