Disappointed and confused
No idea why but this app seems to have really gone down hill! I used to love using gumtree for buying and selling and found it to be one of the smartest, quickest and easiest to use apps on the market. But now all I see is ads to pay for to boost your items and it's like after the first day of posting your items fall down the proverbial list never to be seen again. This isn't even getting me started on the phishing emails texts and problems I've had since using the app. There is no security around your information especially your phone number so beware! I have highest security on all I use apps, social media you name it, but since putting my phone number on my ads so people can contact me about my items, I have had texts and emails claiming to be from people wanting to "buy my things" or claiming to be "gumtree" wanting account details and PayPal accounts and bank accounts details! NOPE! The latest I've got was today one from "HMRC" saying I had a rather large tax rebate. Needless to say my hopes of a nice pay day were dashed when I realised that the "HMRC" were actually some "freegym" crap from another country after my bank details. Not sure if this is just Gumtree's security or what but the problem didn't come till I was using the app. Deleted my account and the app. Doesn't feel safe to me. 😓
Used to love this app, but since the last update, i can't remove the 'ads in my area' and 'cars for sale' stripes. I'm not interested in buying a car, and the ads in my area are all junk. All i want to see is my saved searches. Hope they sort it soon. Also, once your listing has expired, theres no way of relisting, unless you start again from scratch, or pay to relist. Once your ads have expired you have no way of deleting them from your 'My Ads' list. And lastly, i recently received a phishing email purporting to be from someone wanting to purchase my item, but really it was from someone trying to obtain my details. Sort it out Gumtree.
App does what it says on the tin. I wish there was a way to state clearly and quickly whether an item has been sold. As I find once an item has been on there a while (couple of weeks) people assume it's sold and don't contact you. So you have to delete the add and re-post it so it looks fresh. Come to think of it. Maybe don't even have the feature which says how long something has been on there. Just sort by price or distance.
