What's New

Version 20.0

For this update we’ve been under the app’s bonnet, tinkering with some of the technical stuff that makes it work.

And like your car’s MOT, these security updates and bug fixes help make your app safer than ever. But unlike your car’s MOT, they don’t cost you anything.

We've also included some changes in line with the new GDPR guidelines.

Payments and transfer

What the hell have you done to payments and transfers. When you look at the pay a contact it gives you the name and an initial then look at make a payment option just gives you the surname. This means if you transfer money to different members of your family with the same surname your stuffed cuz you dont know which is which you have to look up bank details you idiots. Plonker programmers again fixing something that ain't broke. What was wrong with the old way. Too many key presses now to get the job done. Sort it. If I could give no stars I would.

Why can’t we use fingerprint to log on on iPads everyone else has managed it even tsb

I done a transfer to another bank. Which went ok. I then tried to set up another transfer to the same bank for the next day. The app rejected it because it said I was over my daily limit. It totally ignored the fact it was for the next day. This is poor programming.

Easy Peasy

What’s great app, easy to log into (Touch ID). Easy to set up a new beneficiary (sends a text to confirm). Easy to check my recent transactions and keep an eye on my balance and pending transactions. Easy to let the bank know when I’ll be overseas to ensure my card works (with no exchange fees using the Clarity MasterCard).
Great recent addition of ‘money In’ and ‘money out’ monthly cumulative summary. Using this on an iPhone SE, I can understand people’s frustration if it is not scaled properly to fit larger screens, this should be fixed!

Please don’t do an Apple and update just for the sake of it - which (yes Apple is guilty of this) ends up making apps less intuitive and mor complex.

Good Banking App – Halifax

Big DudeUK

September 2017 – updated app is a little quicker and smoother. I'd like to be able to award 1/2 stars in App Store this should be 4.5 stars.
If you use fingerprint ID and add a new print you have to use your memorable info to be able to continue to use. Personally I'd prefer full password and memorable information to add fingerprint. But that's me. Also I think the app needs to request full password entry on an ad-hoc basis or as randomly as an algorithm can be, which isn't very random but not on a regular routine. Just my personal security thoughts. With the advent of FaceID with iPhone X not sure I'd want to use that for entry to my bank account?!? Maybe the banks are OK with it or not have to wait and see.

November 2016 – Fairly straightforward and easy to use. Adding people/companies as 'payees' is a little clunky.

I'd recommend that this app requests full password entry on an ad-hoc basis or as randomly as an algorithm can be which isn't very random. Just as a further security measure. If you're a Halifax customer I recommend you get this app. it makes life a little easier.
