What's New

Version 4.9.075

Apologies to those iOS10.x iPad users for the issue with the List View in the update just released- this version should address that issue. Here's a recap of what else is new for 2018:

* TouchID support- optionally use your fingerprint on compatible devices to open your password protected databases
* Data detectors in view record screen - tap underlined text within a text or note field to dial, launch a URL, send an email, etc.
* Now text and note fields will show an x button to the right to easily clear the field when editing.
* Compress View option for view record screen - only shows fields that have values set.
* Many bug fixes

Please leave a positive review and recommend us to your friends and coworkers. Thanks for your continued support!

Amazing App With Support That Is Second To None

I have been a HanDBase user for many years now - on Palm, Windows Mobile & now iPhone & iPad. I use HanDBase to run my fencing club and my own fencing competition results databases. The combination of pseudo-relational tables and the forms designer mean that I can have an actual application that doesn't just manage lists - it allows me to build a simple (but powerful) system to record my data. I then export the data out to MS Access and I have full reporting facilities. As I say, it runs the fencing club equipment ordering system and the invoicing of members for ordered kit. Without HanDBase my life would be considerably harder.
Whilst the product itself is amazingly functional and stable, the support provided by the developer is incredible! The forums are very active, and if you post a question or a query you usually get a good response from the developer within a couple of hours. And you don't just get a fobbing off - if they can't answer immediately they will get you to e-mail your database to them and work out what is wrong. And they will reply in a few hours again.
The documentation is not always as up-to-date as I would like, but I would rather have a quick turnaround on queries than a fully up-to-date manual.
HanDBase is a must-have app for me. I have looked at other similar-sounding apps but none have the richness or functionality of HanDBase.

Latest version is brilliant

Mike Grace

The latest version is brilliant - because you can now add and delete files in the 'Files' section of iTunes on your iPad or iPod Touch. Before I am sure you could keep your iPod Touch, iPad and PC all synchronised but I found it very complicated to follow all the different syncs and now (for me) it's just easier to overwrite files using iTunes. So what was a terrific app on the Palm is a terrific app again and I can start using it without being worried I was going to overwrite or lose my data.

Now to try and work out how to use it properly instead of scratching around - and to investigate the free apps on the website (which is a real bonus).

High hopes BUT

This app appeared to have everything (nearly) that I wanted in a relational database. The known limitations were field size for DBpopup which made it difficult for me to use in my applications for report writing with a phrase picker. I spent a long time writing an application on it but eventually gave up because there appear to be serious memory allocation problems. There are frequent crashes and my DBpopup list would not take on the view that was set up for it making it useless as you can't see the various options in the list view. The application appears to work in the PC windows desktop version of the programme. I am disappointed that the developers have not been able to make this app stable enough to use except in the most basic of applications.
