Description

Your hearing enhancement. On every headphone.

Hear Me Well is a tool that turns your iPhone in a very simple and easy to use hearing aid.

Just put your iPhone or iPad between yourself and your interlocutor, connect your headphones and adjust the volume and, if needed, the noise reduction filter.

But technically, how does it work? It works by processing and amplifying the sound picked up by the iPhone's microphone. It's perfectly compatible with any model of wired and wireless headphones, including the Apple AirPods.

This app could be very useful in noisy environments such as bars and restaurants. Thanks to the specially designed noise reduction filter, any background noise can be reduced significantly.

Hear Me Well works perfectly with the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch can be used to adjust remotely the volume, the balance and the noise reduction filter.

This app is available for now in English, Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

What’s New

Version 1.8.4

Thanks to the precious feedback we receive every day from our lovely users we have been able to improve some aspects of the user experience. The audio delay on bluetooth headphones has been reduced further, resulting in a less distracting and "echoey" quality of sound. Like always, you can use any headphone you like! We would like to remind that it is absolutely normal to experience a little delay while using wireless headphones as this is due to the hardware limitations. Nonetheless, we try our best to reduce the delay as much as we can. Another point we would like to remind is that Hear Me Well is not intended to amplify the sound of phone calls or your television. You can still perform these tasks, but by placing your iPhone next to the sound source.
In this version we have introduced a new skill, the app will stop its engine if the main switch is off while enter in background mode.

Lost in setup

Doesn’t progress past the hearing test (should it?) “Back” just backs out of the screens to the start, where you can skip or perform the hearing test.

Skipping the hearing test, it keeps beeping, and says “connect your headphones”, which were already connected, and still beeping. (Bose QC35)

Update 2019 September

The hearing test seems to be a twitch test. After the first tone, I could hear all of the tones immediately. Something in the pipeline isn’t going quiet enough, or can’t. So it’s how fast can you click the “I can hear it” button.

I got past the hearing test. There is some misalignment on several screens. In one place I’m to enter a profile name for the environment where the test was run, and press OK, but these 2 text fields overlap.

I didn’t add a picture for my profile on that screen, so now I can’t add it. There’s no obvious menu, no way to restart the process. Perhaps if I add another profile, and delete the first.

The audio processing seems OK, but there’s a lot of noise added. I’m also listening with pretty good noise-cancelling headphones, which might defeat the purpose.

I really want this to work, as I’m really frustrated bynoisy environments. I’ll give it a shot next time.

Developer Response ,

Dear QM64, First of all thank you very much for downloading Hear Me Well. We’re sorry to hear that you have experienced some issues during the first setup. If you have completed or skipped the test, and the “connect your headphones” was still showing up while you were perceiving some beeps, it might be due to a pairing issue with your headphones. Feel free to contact us anytime if you need help configuring or using the app, we will be really happy to help.

Good idea, but doesn’t quite work

An interesting idea and if it worked would be brilliant. The lag is unacceptable and so you hear the voice a few milliseconds after a person has spoken, so effectively you hear things twice. Sadly this makes the app useless. If it could be refined to use with no lag, it could be amazing.

Developer Response ,

Dear therealduende, First of all thank you very much for choosing Hear Me Well. Unfortunately a very small delay is absolutely normal. This is caused by the hardware limitations of the devices, and the time of delay depends on the model of your headset. We are working hard to reduce it as much as possible in order to improve the user experience, that's why your opinion is important to us. We will be releasing an update very soon with improvements on the latency. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
