Great game but...
This and Hunters 2 are probably my favourites of this type of turn based strategy game for the iPad. I always have a bit of a problem with games that have a high level of initial difficulty that nudge you into making in-app purchases to start with, but by far the most annoying thing is the instability of the app. Ok, when it crashes, you only lose the last turn's worth of gameplay, but it is irritating. This seems to be a problem with Hunters 1 and 2. I'm using the latest 32gb IPad with the latest OS. Considering the number of reviewers that raise this point, it's surprising that this hasn't been addressed by the developers. It's a real shame, because the games themselves are of a very high caliber and extremely enjoyable.
If you're looking for a strategic turn based game, then look elsewhere. I don't understand why this game is receiving the plaudits that it is? The maps are very small and repetitious.
The 2d isometric makes it virtually impossible to determine any cover for your soldiers. The enemy AI also leaves a lot to be desired. The enemy almost never pursues you or hunts you down, making it constantly necessary to send out a "fall guy" out into the open.
There isn't any real enjoyment in playing with the stats for weapons and armour either. Despite the crashes, Xcom was far more enjoyable than this.
I won't be purchasing Hunters 2...
Tutorial level - just right. Then requires some time spent on it, and rewards this time with a good tactical experience.
