Ratings and Reviews
Fees increase - Misleading graph
The fees were suddenly increased considerably with very short notice. I will be paying a double amount compared to what I used to before the sudden increase. This is very poor and shows a lack of good faith. It was all justified with an unspecified expansion in advice and financial planning, that customers supposedly asked for. I don’t know about the other customers, but I definitely didn’t ask for any of that. What’s worse is that this is the second change in the fees structures in around three years… at this point I wouldn’t be confident that they won’t change the fees again in a year or so.
The app is overall decent, but the performance graph is very misleading as it overlaps contributions to performance, so it looks always positive trend (if you have a regular direct debit), even if actual performance is negative. Moreover, there is no projected value (there used to be but they removed it).
Nice app
I have used Moneyfarm for about 6 months now and find the app very good. There is a raft of information on the app which is helpful, some way more than I will ever need, but all very slick.
The hidden gem with Moneyfarm is their advisors. They only make passing reference to them, but they are truly the hidden gem, and when used in conjunction with the app you really can’t ask for much more. When the time is right,I will be consolidating all my ISA’s with Moneyfarm.
I’d highly recommend Moneyfarm.
Utter rubbish
The service offering and the rates of return are deplorable, if you can’t find better returns with your eyes closed then you should be holding on to your money and keeping it in a piggybank, besides once you get going with this outfit none of the figures you see relating to returns makes any sense, maybe to Mickey Mouse, but in the real world it’s all totally baffling. Apart from the investment stuff, which of course is the main point of all this, there is the closely linked technology aspect without which all these Fintech firms could not exist, let me tell you it’s not reliable, at least not Moneyfarm’s, I won’t go into the very long, very boring story but I can say that I have first hand knowledge and experience of serious failures in the systems Moneyfarm uses and since everything they do is reliant on technology one wonders when the whole thing is going to come crashing down, I for one will not be around to witness it, all too scary for me, and I don’t scare easily. Oh and their customer service, such as it is, leaves you empty and most definitely not yearning for more.
