Customer Reviews

Simple for buying. Selling, however...

Very easy and user friendly for searching items and buying. When it comes to selling though, it's a bit of a minefield. Too many options to fill in, error messages if something is missed out which 9 times out of 10 is irrelevant to the listing which is trying to be posted and then when a listing is active and needs editing, postage details somehow make their way into it with out any input from the seller. This has happened to me a few times now, on items which would cost a tremendous amount to post, the app quotes a postage cost of £2.50 or something ridiculous. This has potential to ruin a seamless transaction and affect seller feedback if the mistake is not realised before the sale. Needs attention!

Tries to be some kind of store front showing random goods I am not interested in. This is like Yell forgetting that address & postcode come in handy when looking up a business. eBay used to be a neat app which one could use to buy and sell easily, with a neat watch function, useful filters and parameters that could be set when items have been listed matching my watchlist. Certainly it was streets ahead of what has now become the 'new' so-called 'improved' eBay. What is eBay now? Developers lost site of the essential need to keep users engaged spending as much time as possible. I bet your user stats time spent, pages visited etc are telling you this is as much a disaster as almost everyone else is telling you.

Is eBay trying to be a high end cross-bred department store inside Argos or Walmart? I think someone lost site of the design brief or there's some maniac publishing the later design briefs. This isn't pleasant to use. It doesn't engage the user or hold their attention like past versions did. The app gives the user a strange sensation of being on the outside, not really knowing, believing or being confident it has searched everything.

It doesn't look after the user's numbers & statistics in a way that I would expect. Just not helpful in so many ways.

Fails the essential tests of any good marketing; doesn't attract, doesn't engage, and doesn't hold attention. That's without even looking at any instructions.

Decent for buying, horrible for selling

The eBay app does make searching, watching and buying fairly straightforward, although the Watched Items list does frequently show the wrong prices for items! Meaning you have to go to a specific item to see it's current selling price and can't rely on the list.
Also scrolling up and down seems overly sensitive to left and right movement so you often end up going back when all you were doing was scrolling down.
Selling on the app is now very difficult. It used to be a very simple process made easy by the fact you had a camera to shoot your item and fill in a few details and boom you're done and listed. Now the number of options you have to go through mean you often end up wishing you were back at a computer because it feels more like work than a simple act.
