Social nonsense added, no genuine improvements

Pocket was my favourite app, and used to receive regular usability improvements. Now it's ruined by an obnoxious social / money-making push. They've ignored improving the core reading experience, in an effort to turn a once-refreshingly private app into yet another social network. 'Connect with your friends! Show them what you're reading! Everything's an invasive social platform now. Everything must be shared. I'd like the option to turn this nonsense off, but even with a paid subscription, you can't. So I dropped my subscription. The core reading features, which used to be the focus of Pocket, are buried away in the secondary menu, more difficult to access than before. Page-flipping mode still never sticks for longer than 2 swipes, after years. No highlighting, note taking, bookmarking or other new features which would be useful to the READING experience have been added in years. Instapaper is so far ahead on the core reading experience. They'll have to find a different business model anyway, I'm 100% certain people were never attracted to Pocket for social reasons, and never will be.

this is an amazingly useful and easy to use app. Think of it as sexy Internet book marking. Then use it to populate your social media feeds.

Save stuff you like on the web in a simple tap on all your devices. Love it!
