Customer Reviews

Wonderful App!

First time I've written a review but I've been using this app for quite some time and absolutely love it. Even when I was using a basic soft-tip stylus before moving onto the Apple Pencil, the interface is easy to use and there are plenty of options for experimenting. While there are a couple of issues with the tilt sensitivity of the Apple Pencil (sometimes when I'm using the pencil sketching tool I get a thick line when I don't want one), the pressure sensitivity works really well, both for line thickness and pencil pressure - I finished a sketch the other day and people I've shown it did initially mistake it for an actual pencil drawing.

One thing I would like is the ability to create folders for artwork. Because I've been using this app for a good few years, I've built up a fair backlog of artwork, some of which are part of larger projects. I like to keep things organised, so the addition of folders would certainly be a useful thing.

Great and desktop-class!

Procreate is a fast, fluent, and fully-featured app that gives desktop applications a run for their money. Coupled with the Apple Pencil, this becomes one serious drawing application that is perfect for drawing complex compositions.

As a long term desktop user, I was anxious to try using the iPad Pro as a full-time illustration device - thinking it would be a 'companion device' at best. The iPad Pro coupled with Procreate has blown well past my expectations, and although I may still need my Mac for some things this app has covered most of the bases.

The only thing I think ought to be added is deeper iCloud integration. As it stands now, your drawings are stored on the device only (although you can manually upload files to iCloud one at a time, so it does talk to iCloud but not to the same degree as other apps).

Wonderfully simple and versatile.

As my title suggests the app really is simple in the way it conveys itself to the user. I'm not an artist however I do love to doodle and follow drawing tutorials, what I have found is that procreate is to state the obvious a much cleaner artists foundation than pencil and paper. With a basic yet broad arrangement of presets created by the developers there is a good springboard for any artist to customise with their own brushes.

On a more important note is compatibility. The ability to export time lapse videos of your art, PNG files, and photoshop files is quite simply awesome and coupled with full and dynamic support for the Apple Pencil and other similar products I would totally recommend the app to all artists!
