MESSAGE FROM ITV:
What's New in Version 7.4
In this release of the ITV Hub we’ve built in iPhone X support and have also made a few small improvements around the app.
A painful experience when ‘mobile’
As numerous others here have already said, this app needs major improvement. It often fails to remember where you left off. It’s difficult to scrub/search along the timeline to find a particular spot. It’s fine if you’re watching on WiFi with a fast uninterrupted connection but watching on 4G can be painful if you have a momentary loss in data (while on a train etc). The app seems to have no internal buffer at all. Why can’t it read ahead and download a few minutes of the content in advance when the connection is good (and store it in a buffer) just in case the connection does drop momentarily, to avoid the TV program suddenly stopping?
Frustrating viewing on mobile/chrome cast
This app is really frustrating- regularly cutting out and disconnecting from chrome cast, nearly always ends a programme I am watching a few minutes before the actual end, so I then have to sit through more adverts to be able to reload and scroll through..forgets what I've watched and have never successfully pressed 'continue watching' without it starting it from the beginning. Very often plays on my phone and on chrome cast at the same time out of sync and I have to reboot.
Doesn’t Support AirPlay or Apple TV.
This is a really, really big deal. I have not watched ITV in years because I don’t have Sky and I’m not at home when the big appointment-to-view shows are on. ITV does not have an Apple TV app, nor does it support AirPlay to Apple TV. As a result (and this is bonkers) the only way for me to support British TV with my preferred TV set up is to watch on my phone or my iPad. There literally isn’t a way I can watch ITV on demand on my TV without (a) paying a significant amount of money for Sky or (b) spending money on a far less superior TV service to watch. Support Apple TV, or, at the bare minimum AirPlay, and it’d be a much better service.
