When inspiration happens, put it on Paper. Paper is the best way to capture and connect your notes, photos, and sketches. Create checklists, spotlight details in photos, and sketch diagrams with unbeatable speed and ease — Paper is like a wall of sticky notes for everything that inspires you.
Paper’s swipe-to-style formatting makes creating checklists and notes faster and more fun than any other app. The photo spotlight tool helps you quickly clarify essential details.
Bring text, photos, and sketches together. Keep your ideas organized, and see everything in one place to make connections you can’t see in siloed lists.
Paper’s unique visual notes are designed to help you get your point across quickly and precisely. Paper also lets you share your ideas any way you want to, including as professionally-formatted PDFs, Keynote and Powerpoint presentations.
The original iPad version of Paper is a winner of Apple’s App of the Year and is used by millions around the world. The Universal version adds support for iPhone, in addition to text, photos, and sketching, all beautifully designed for touch. Paper is completely free with no in-app purchases.

Completely Lost Its Charm
Update. I feel like i’m in Star Wars and going backwards. This is a useless app for any real artist and has become a toy to play with…
Once upon a time in a galaxy not too far away, there was an iPad app that allowed the poetic princess to keep a variety of journals and a creative young warrior to sketch out his battle plans in different charming and magical notebooks, arranged in a beguiling and attractive manner. But then a droid from a neighbouring kingdom decreed that this should be scrapped in favour of more social media, We could be bigger than Pinterest! Compete with Instagram! We should take notes and share them together! And on his decree they tore the notebooks apart and scattered them to the winds. Breaking the hearts of creativity. The spark was gone, the magic destroyed. The artists left to move on to another kingdom.
Moral of this story is, DON’T get this app. The heart and soul has been ripped out of it and I have returned my pencil for a refund.
Once super app, downgraded UI for iPad in latest update
I have always loved Paper and was a very early adopter, but in a recent update fifty three changed the UI on iPad drastically without warning - removing the beautiful and efficient journal interface that was a core feature of Paper and a joy to use. We are left with a clunky alternative that has taken the joy out of Paper for me.
The company will not recognise their major mistake and listen to the user base - we hate the changes you made to the iPad version. Please put this right.
If anyone asks me about paper from now on, I’ll be talking about how fifty three ruined the iPad experience to accommodate the iPhone.
Give us back the original Paper spirit!
In one single swoop, without warning, you have decided to "innovate" and ruin the app. I say take away paper stacks, take away that hodgepodge bullet point implementation, eliminate the Jumbled UI... Give us back elegance, cleanliness, intuitive gestures, minimal look. Reinstate Mix, flipping pages, Moleskine look, the loupe, the rewind gesture. Make them optional if you are so convinced you are in the right... But let us go back using Paper on iPad to facilitate creativity as it was before these misguided "productivity" mutation of the app... Well whoever decided these changes must be fired! I am sure Microsoft Office would be a better project match for him/her. ;-)
