Less than the sum of its parts...

Lots of work has gone into this app. Really a lot. The result looks very professional and the content appears promising.

Unfortunately it didn't take me long to become frustrated. The UI starts to feel gratuitously slick when all there is on a page is a short paragraph in fixed-size small type with a whole bunch of graphical jazz around it. On occasion you can flip the text box to read another few lines. Or you can click somewhere on the page to pop up another text box. I just end up wishing I could be allowed just to read the darn text, especially when the UI at times seems fussy about exactly what gesture will make it behave as required.

If you flip the page accidentally (as I can't avoid doing occasionally) you'll likely find that when you go back, the page is not as you left it because any content you had popped up or otherwise caused to appear is now reset, which just doubles down on your initial annoyance that the page flipped.

There's some worthwhile content here and people have invested in and sweated over this, but how they might sustain the resources required by such an over-egged production style in the long term is hard to imagine, especially given that it doesn't always even seem the best way to facilitate consumption of the text.

It's good, but navigation quickly becomes a chore

At first I thought, wow, this is great design. About an hour later I wanted to pull my own teeth out. The UI is way over the top and starts to become very annoying very quickly, its as if the designer(s) tried to cram too many ideas and UI features in and did not know when to stop. On the whole I do like it though. One of the recommended non-game apps was Flipboard, which the Swipe UI designer could learn a lot from.
