ILectric Piano for iPAD

KenPoole

Well I bought iGrand Piano and was blown away by the quality of the sounds and ease of use but thought wow if they could do that with Electric pianos my life would be complete . .and here it is! Well done IK you've done it again what a great collection of classic and modern sounding keyboards far better than anything else out there. One thing other EP apps have problems with is the higher register they start to sound false and toy like the higher up you go - not so the iLectric they sound just like the real thing right across the entire range. Love the ease of use flexibility and features like transpose, EQ etc. The reason I only gave this a 4 star because it lacks the ability to import midi files which would be a really useful feature for practicing plus the expansion pack is a bit pricey. Great app not cheap but professional grade instruments so you would pay a lot more for VSTs for your PC or Mac. I am looking forward to using it live. Bing on the Organs and a Decent Synth IK

Excellent sounds but...

Although this app has some excellent sounds, and works well with my external midi keyboard through the irig midi adapter, and interfaces well with audiobus, I've only given it 3 stars for the following reasons:

1) The on-screen keyboard is woefully small. It verges on the unusable. Although I use the app a lot with an external keyboard I can't take that everywhere I go with my iPad - on-the-go composing with ilectric is only possible with the simplest riffs, unlike with every other music app I have. Consequently (sadly) I don't use it in these situations.

2) The app always fires up with an ad screen, and then once up and running pop-up adverts appear for the first few seconds! This is NOT ACCEPTABLE in a paid for app, particularly one as heftily priced as ilectric. A more than slight disdain for the customer seems to be evident here.

3) The afore mentioned hefty price. I would find this more reasonable if the other two problems were addressed. But as it is the issue is compounded by a charge of over 50% more than the original price for a further set of sounds, which until points 1 and 2 are addressed in an update I will be very unlikely to purchase.

I'll admit that it isn't quite as impressive an emulation as the acoustic pianos in their igrand app but I still consider it a good purchase. I was pretty happy with the electric piano sounds in my Casio WK7500 to start with but this app does take it to a new level. Short of owning a Korg SV1 or a Nord Electro, This has given my keyboard some really cool sounds.
