Great concept with stunning visuals
Infinity Blade delivers a unique and interesting concept with brilliant visuals, showing what iOS games can produce. I played through and finished this on an iPad Air and it really did look stunning for a tablet game. The concept is short and simple, but very effective, with a tactical combat system mixed with some good old finger swiping at the correct opportunity. The theme of the game is fantastic with nice surroundings, and the RPG elements enable you to build your character with your choice of equipment which can be levelled up and stat points distributed.
The only main issues I really had was at times the attacks wouldn't register how I would want them to, but in the most part the combat was responsive and fun. The game also would have done with more areas and options to explore. The main story arc and areas are not too long, and you will get used to the surroundings and enemy types, but it still keeps things fun for a few play throughs, and the game is designed for that. There are a nice choice of equipment to unlock, each with their own unique stats, and best of all these actually show accordingly on your character. Great visuals, fun concept and nice sound. This is well worth a try if you won an iPad. Time to start Infinity Blade II.

Not as good as it should be
I bought this game after playing it a while back on a friend's iPod. One thing I noticed is the ipad version is a bit better on the touch aspect, except a few things. For me the dodge buttons seem to want to not work a lot of the time on my touch screen, I have also been unable to collect some gold bags because of this, the option to buy in game money with out of game currency is also an issue for me, after all I spent £4 on this game, isn't that enough? Clearly not but there you go. I am still here to stop the game asking me to do so every 20 minutes, which is the average run through of each bloodline. They are incredibly linear. This was the first thing I noticed reaching the end of the 4th storyline. Anyway I guess I could recommend this game, if you like grinding constantly for cash and having to avoid levelling up several times because your new sword maxed out in two fights and cost you 100 grand in gold coins so you can't buy the rest of the stuff you need. Also don't bother using magic all that much, I just focus on strength and health and have blitzed through so far. So yeah, good game for the ipad, shows capabilities, blah blah blah. Though not really worth £4.
More than meets the eye
Clearly, this game has some of the best graphics on the iOS platform, pushing the limits of the devices, and yet it runs flawlessly on the 4S; I've had no problems whatsoever with choppy frame rates or crashes.
Some users complain the game is too short. I agree that the journey up to the God King for the apparent 'final battle' comes round very quickly, but when people complain they 'completed the game in 10 minutes' I sincerely doubt that many (if any) of them managed to defeat the God King on that first round. Which is the whole point! If you have an attention span more suited to Fruit Ninja then maybe you'll get bored of this, but I think the developers have put a lot of work into making a potentially disastrous idea - of forcing the player to play though the same sequence of battles over and over - into an engaging, challenging and highly playable experience.
Anyone who 'completed' the game after surrendering to the God King and then abandoned it: if you work your way up to affording the Infinity Blade weapon, a whole new set of areas, battles and storyline emerges. It's worth the effort!
