Good up to a point

I installed the best Apple offline voices and pronunciation in the target language was excellent; this reflects on Apple’s system. Translations were fairly reasonable provided the English input was very straightforward. An obvious problem: if you want to ask the way to a foreign city, how do you pronounce it: in the customary mangled English version or like the locals? The latter seemed to defeat the app. There were also clear grammatical errors in the translation which would sound highly odd to a native speaker. Don’t try to learn the foreign language from this system.
That said, it is very far from useless if you accept the oddities of some translations.

This app is great I love the way you can converse with someone who doesn't understand your language, the only downside is you have to have an Internet connection all the time and the country I live in has very poor wifi so not always available

Being keen on languages I am VERY impressed with this. I have managed to trip it up - saying "my bananas have gone off" results in a translation of "my bananas have gone away" but it's as close as you can expect a computer to do and perfect for travel!
