Jackie Junko and The Old Ship Yard is a story about a little boat on an adventure that goes just slightly wrong! The landscape in which Jackie lives in is rich and engaging with beautiful mountainous backdrops that sit neatly around the waterways that he lives in.

As the story unfolds you meet quirky animals and many friendly boats. You are taken to Jackie’s school, you meet his teacher and classmates, and in particular you are introduced to his best friend and sidekick Ping. Together, they take themselves on a slightly dubious adventure where Jackie gets into a small spot of bother. Thankfully Ping is on hand to help him out!

Ratings and Reviews

Lovely illustrations

We enjoyed reading this story as a bed time story. It is a beautiful. Nicely done.

Beautiful and boingy

Love it. Really sweet and lots of things to play with along the way. Even my 9 year old liked it because of the way the interactivity allowed you to go a bit "off piste" and make up your own way of playing along.

Pro: Love how everything is boingy and "physically responsive", rather than just re-made animation loops that other apps have. We had lots of fun keeping the bird from landing on the boat for instance.

Con: Sometimes hard to know all the bits that are interactive. Although a lot of stuff is so not a biggie.

And having read the couple of reviews up front, I'm not quite sure what the 1 star reviewer was expecting as its clearly not sold as a puzzle app. Seemed a bit harsh. Let's face it, you'd probably pay more if it was a real book, so all the interactivity is worth it IMHO. Thumbs up from us though.

Mr Man

One of the finest interactive children book I've seen, my daughter enjoy reading it over and over again.
