Description

To be used in conjunction with Jaguar vehicles which are fitted with the next-generation infotainment system, InControl Touch Pro, the Jaguar Route Planner App allows you to navigate from door to door. Before setting out from your home, set your destination from your smartphone and you’ll be directed to your Jaguar as the app detects your vehicle's location. The smartphone app will then automatically sync with your Jaguar's navigation system using the Cloud so your car will be ready to take over navigating soon after you get in. Once you've finished your in-car journey, navigation is then handed back to your smartphone, which provides any final public transport and pedestrian directions to your final destination.

In addition the Route Planner app also allows you to pre-plan trips and holidays by searching for places of interest or restaurants and saving them as favourites from your smartphone. You will then be able to access these saved locations from the in-car navigation system at a later date.

Note:

Requires registration of an InControl Navigation Account either from your Jaguar's navigation settings or jaguar.here.com.

As we systematically introduce InControl, specific features, options and its availability remain market dependent. This app requires that your vehicle be fitted with its relevant connectivity package as well as a Micro SIM card with a suitable data contract.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Probably the worst suite of apps ever written.

I have just purchased a new I-PACE HSE and downloaded the apps they have for it. There is nowhere to report a problem and there are many. The Route app doesn’t even recognise my email address even though the other apps do so I can’t get passed the login page. The other apps are unreliable or worse though at least they let me log in. The charging app has only a small fraction of available chargers on its database so is totally pointless. Zap-Map is much better. The remote app has very little in it and whilst it will tell you the car isn’t locked or the windows are open it doesn’t give you a way of locking or closing it so what’s the point. It is hard to imagine that a modern car manufacturer can’t do better than this. They are not even in the same league as the competition so I won’t be buying another car from them again. Even the on board software is unreliable.

The most ridiculous navigation system

This really is the most ridiculous navigation system I’ve come across. ‘Here’ give you the ability to update their maps for them yet offer no incentives or rewards for your efforts, yet charge a high subscription for the privilege. Moreover, if you receive a notification to update your in-car navigation system, you have to download a massive file, covering the entirety of Europe snd Russia, which takes around 2 -2.5 hours to download and a further 20-30 minutes to install in your car. Why don’t they just give us the option of downloading a specific country or region. This would significantly reduce the downloaded file size and time taken. How many drivers seriously need the entire Euro/Russian landmass available at any one time? And come on ‘Here’, give your users and contributors some recognition for our efforts in keeping your maps updated!

Terrible

I can’t believe that an international car company could come up with a suite of apps so poor. So little effort has gone into the design, they all leave much to be desired. The quality control is very poor, and still around three years after initial release, they all often fail to fulfil their basic function. This could be overlooked to some extent if the Jaguar in-car entertainment systems were great, but unfortunately they are pretty shocking too. These days this stuff is important, and given what I now know, it would put me off buying the car. This particular app does not work, it is not even clear how it should be used and it crashes with impunity. Sort it out JLR, it would take a decent App developer a matter of hours to come up with something infinitely better.
