Keycard is undoubtedly the easiest way to keep your Mac secure when you're not around.

Using Bluetooth®, Keycard locks your Mac using your iOS device when it detects you are leaving your computer. When you come back, it unlocks it for you. Leaving your desk for 10 minutes? Grabbing a coffee in the library? Take your iPhone or other iOS device with you and it can serve as your own personal “Keycard.”

What's New in Version 1.2

-The lock screen now behaves better when a full screen app is up and Keycard locks.
-Keycard now locks when you power down your phone or turn Bluetooth off on your phone.
-Control the sensitivity of Keycard via a new sensitivity control in settings screen.
-Various bugs and memory leaks fixed.
-Various UI tweaks.

Customer Reviews

Great looking, works well but has flaws.

This App works very well compared to some others out there, has a great user interface and the bluetooth sensitivity is brilliant but sadly has a serious flaw: it disables your screensaver/screen sleep option so unless you turn the App off when leaving the computer for an extended period you risk damaging your screen because when activated the locked screen sits there and will cause your screen to burn.

That being said I know the developers are looking to resolve this issue as well as add further options for the release of version 1.3. Sadly I have no idea of when this release will take place as I was only told, today, that it would be in the 'upcoming weeks'. If I am honest I think the £5 cost is unreasonable for the product as it currently stands. When I purchased it I had expected a much more robust App but am satisfied that the development team are being proactive and from other reviews it would appear that they are continually tweeking and expanding the program.

Loving this app!

Amazing functionality, works incredibly well – and the iPhone can be locked for the locking/unlocking function to work, I have tested many times in a variety of locations. I don't mind logging in initially using my login password as this is more secure. Also turning on login after screensaver comes on adds to security – Keycard whilst I’m nearby and password if I’m away for longer.

If you want the app to open on boot up you need to add the app to your login items in System Preferences then it will open on startup. However you will also need to click the app's menu bar item to prompt it to conenct to your iPhone.

Having the bluetooth sensitivity on high/medium often leads to my MBP locking when my iPhone is right next to the MBP, but don't tend to get that error by reducing sensitivity.

Great - thank you!

I've previously reviewed two different versions of this app with varying positivity and the last review not being very complimentary at all. However, I've just upgraded to version 1.2 and all my prayers have been answered.

Both of my biggest two gripes, the fact I couldn't control the bluetooth sensitivity and also that the 'lock' screen showed my desktop have been addressed in this version and I am now running with what I would classify as the 'complete' app.

Well done to the developers for listening and persevering on this - great job!
