Track order display issues
The app will display album information in numerical track order only if one selects by 'album’.
If one selects by ‘artist’ or anything other than ‘album’ the app displays tracks in alphabetical order. The app does not make use of meta data files for album artwork.
Linn advised me that this was because it is a “dumb” app and that the fault was with the media server in my LaCie NAS drive where my digital music files reside.
My Linn dealer advised that, to get correctly displayed listings, I should only use a recommended NAS drive, in their case a QNAP with customised software media server installed.
I look forward to a user friendly update, where the app intelligently displays the album tracks in numerical order without dependency on external custom software.
If only the playlist worked...
Back when my phone and my wifes ipad were on ios version 4 something kinsky was fantastic.
Kinsky is for Linn hardware and I don't own any Linn products. It probably still works properly with the hardware it is meant for but doesn't with my DLNA AV amp or any other DLNA renderer on my network.
We loved the way you could browse the server for music, pick tracks with the 'play later' option and they were added to the playlist. Start the first track in the playlist going and carry on adding tracks. When we had guests just pass the ipad around and let people add the list.
That was until ios5 and still is with v6. Now the playlist doesn't advance on its own. You can tap your way through the list playing one at a time but who want to do that to keep the music playing.
I'm not going to be buying a Linn player but keep hoping an update will make it work on other renderers as it used to be the perfect app. If they made a paid for general DLNA version I'd buy it.
Linn sneaky des and controller - frustrating rubbish
I bought a Linn Sneaky DS along with a Sonos system. Love the sound quality of the Linn, everything else is pure frustration. Really rubbish software for ipad, and windows to control the Linn. Consequently I use the Sonos over the Linn which is a real pity. You guys in Scotland HAVE to sort the controllers out. The system is vertually unusable. Every time I think I will go and listen to the system, I end up frustrated and not getting the sound out, or it taking so long for it to work that I just go and listen to Sonos. I am so close to just junking the system and buying another Sonos component. Recommend Linn, NO not until they sort the controllers out.
