KNIGHTS AND MERCHANTS recreates the era of the Middle Ages. Apart from the purely fictitious geography of our world, all game elements and scenes are based on the Anglo-Saxon period, ca. 1200 A.D. And we haven't used imaginary elements like fabled creatures, either. The player takes on the role of an ordinary captain in the Palace Guard. A conspiracy against the king catapults the captain into a situation where he finds himself responsible for the defence of the last royal province. This is all that remains of the shattered kingdom, which has been split into numerous small principalities and fiefdoms. And now even the king himself, ensconced in his capital, is threatened by enemy armies. This is the starting point of your Middle Ages adventure. Now you must win back all those provinces which once belonged to your king.

KNIGHTS AND MERCHANTS can be described as a strategic economy simulation. Economics play a major role in this real-time action game. The player can manufacture different products, making use of numerous buildings and producer goods of the Middle Ages period. He can then use his serfs to construct and maintain buildings and roads. The economical structuring is very specific - you manufacture finished products using various raw materials which go through your production processes. All these manufacturing systems are highly detailed and visually understandable, enabling fast and dependable control of your economy.

Bungee mouse

Mouse does a bungee to bottom right corner, even in the main menu. Bounces back too quickly to be able to start a game. There is no point in buying it, as it's unplayable.

YESSSSSSS!!!

This brings back fond memories for sure! This was one of the many games I missed dearly when I switched from PC to Mac, and now I can finally play it again!

For people who have played this game before on PC: just get it!
For new players: this game is great if you love the medieval era and city building type games. There is an equal amount of planning, building and battling in the game - good tutorials on each at the beginning and the missions get progressively more interesting (and difficult) the further you get into it. The levels also last quite a long time, so don't be put off by the number of missions. The game has great re-play value as you can find different tactics to defeat the enemy on each mission (and it's just plain fun!).

The only things I've noticed that are different from the old original is the music (which is still true to the game and era), and I also noticed that on the building tutorial and first mission (at the very least) you have access to ALL of the buildings straight away - including watchtowers. It's not a problem, you still can't go storming the enemy with knights and pikemen on level one because there are no veins of iron on that mission to make into armour & swords.

I've only played through the first mission at the time of writing, but am looking forward to my next tea break already.

Thank you for bringing this awesome game to Mac!!!
