The Land Rover InControl Remote Smartphone App allows you to remain in touch with your Land Rover, making life easier when it really counts. Use the app to remotely:
• Prepare for a trip by checking the fuel level, range and dashboard alerts
• Locate your vehicle on a map and get walking directions back to it
• Check if you left any windows or doors open
• Download your journey information to assist in claiming business expenses
• In the event of a breakdown, request Optimised Land Rover Assistance
For vehicles with InControl Remote Premium the following additional features are available:
• Check on your vehicle security status and lock/unlock your vehicle if required
• Cool or heat your vehicle to the desired temperature prior to your journey.(Availability and function depending on vehicle capability)
• Reset your vehicle’s alarm if it has accidentally triggered
• Locate your vehicle in a crowded car park with the ‘beep and flash’ functionality
Download the App and log in using your Land Rover InControl username and password. This App requires one of the following packages fitted to the vehicle:
• InControl Protect
• InControl Remote
• InControl Remote Premium

Despite being a very technical person, after reading a lot of negative reviews on here I was a bit concerned about whether the App would allow me to connect and interact with my new vehicle (2018 RRS AB + lots of Options). After installing the App, I’ve had absolutely no issues at all. I’ve not had to reinstall it, and it always connects. Whether it’s over WiFi or mobile network, all features work without issue for me. The Remote Start feature is great, as I can set the temperature before using the vehicle, and the Vehicle Health Report is also very handy too. Luckily I’ve not had to try out the security features yet, and hopefully I won’t have to, but the Location and Security Status allow me to keep an eye on things.
It’s a basic App, but it does exactly what’s described. I really don’t understand why there’s so many negative reviews. Maybe I’m just one of the lucky ones, or maybe it’s not the App that’s the problem ...
App Inconsistent and Very Slow
The frustrating thing about this app is you are sold the car with all of its tech (part of the attraction) and when you collect your new car and try to use it you realise how bad it is. Because it takes a few days even weeks to get use to a new car and especially it’s tech/infotainment system and that’s when you really know what it’s like to live with. As others have said it’s woefully slow, when the car has been parked outside for more than 24hrs it thinks it is somewhere else from the day before and won’t update (constantly says updating but never “updated”) when you try to use the self start feature, put it this way it worked for me twice out of 15 attempts in a strong WiFi and 3/4G area. It’s actually quicker just to walk to the car and start it. To mention a few other negative points about the car I collected recently the headlights have excessive condensation and water build up and the rear tail gate does not open from the foot sensor. Unbelievable as this is a new car (Velar 180D SE + sunroof). Welcome to the world of Land Rover!
Works Every time -July 2018
Reading the negative reviews on here made me think this would be a waste of time, however the app has worked flawlessly for me since I picked the evoque up last month.
The main dealer set it all up for me and showed me the apps to download, I have the remote start, journey tracker (this is not valid as a tracker for insurance purposes unfortunately, even tho I can follow the car on google maps with my phone) and the vehicle health checker that lets you know if anything requires your attention and if the car is locked etc....
I’m not sure if There has been an updated version of the app that’s sorted the bugs out that previous reviews are experiencing? Or if the dealer set it up any differently to anyone else? But all I know is that this works fine every time I use it, and that’s why I’m giving it 5 stars :)
One thing that isn’t clear when ordering is that this option ‘InControl Remote’ that comes with the satnav allows you to track your vehicle in real time on your phone but your insurance won’t recognise this as a ‘tracker’.
You need to tick the box for ‘InControl Secure’ (£500) when ordering to have the cars tracker recognised by insurance companies..... wish I’d known as it would have saved me having to pay a 3rd party company to install a 2nd tracker.
