Bookmarks and favourites gone??

Adrian Myatt

I read months of magazine editions in the old version of the app and saved articles as bookmarks and some editions in favourites.
I now find with the update that all my old bookmarks have gone and you no longer have the ability to save notes or rename the bookmarks. Favourites seem to have disappeared completely!
The minor redeeming feature is that the magazine seems to be slightly slicker.
I'll have to wait and see whether I can access my downloaded editions when I have no Internet connection as the old version sometimes wouldn't let me access them offline.

A Magazine for dreamers?

Sadly, I consider the magazine is losing its way. It comes across as overpoweringly commercial rather than a hobby magazine for enthusiasts.

Very few ever get taken off road, and of those that do, few owners can afford to develop their car for that sole purpose, with all of the off-road springs, bushes and other paraphernalia that is now, apparently, indispensible if you want to go off road. Is that the magazine's target market, or perhaps the dreamers with kids and a mortgage to pay for...? I may be wrong but I'd anticipate that's where most readers fit, me included. Such equipment as invade the mag with double page "in your face" adverts never existed when the car earned its reputation...

One of the benefits of owning an older Defender, or Series is that it's a blank canvas for improvement. That doesn't mean spending loads of money on the latest and greatest led enhanced bumper. I seem to remember past diy articles such as making your own cuddy box or headlining - practical and realisable improvements.

Finally, regarding the app itself; there seems to be a limit on the enlargement of the page. Having an iPad mini and poor eyesight, that can be quite a strain.

Would give it zero stars if I could

Not sure if it's just not compatible with the iPad 1, but it took at least half a dozen attempts before the app opened up without shutting itself down again. In the end it took closing all (safari, iTunes, mail & the LRO app in this case) running apps to do it. I already have successfully purchased and read other magazines on this iPad (runners world, land rover monthly, 4x4, EVO & Practical Photography) so it should not be an actual problem with the device.

I decided to purchase a back issue, which went smoothly up until the point of downloading the magazine. No matter what I try, it will not download and has remained on 0% for the last 8 hours and that's with numerous refreshing, pausing & restarting and even just leaving it running. The issue shows as purchased within the app.

Come back through newstand/iTunes to look for some help from the developers page, only to be redirected to pages on the LRO website which don't exist anymore (if they ever did).

I just want to get a refund at this point, as I simply can't be chewed with any more faff on, but it appears I'm going to have to wait until I get in front of my computer to find where to direct my request to now.
