Laptop Friendly Cafes

By William Harris

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

Laptop Friendly Cafes lets you find nearby hotspots that have free wifi and power outlets. There are already plenty of ways to find free wifi, but this app only lists places where you can plug in your laptop. Now you can enjoy a few hours of work or play without draining your laptop's battery.

- Find hotspots with free wifi and power sockets.
- See the nearest hotspot as soon as you open the app.
- Use GPS or cell triangulation to find nearby hotspots, see all the hotspots in a city, or pick a hotspot by name.
- See hotspots on a map and get directions.
- Find hotspots without an Internet connection.
- Works on any iPhone or iPod touch.

We have good coverage in the following cities:

- New York, NY (94 hotspots)
- London, UK (96 hotspots)
- Sydney, NSW (48 hotspots)
- Melbourne, VIC (48 hotspots)

The hotspots in our database are recommended by real people and new recommendations are collected all the time. If you know a good hotspot that we haven't listed we'd love to hear about it.

Great app with loads of potential!

LFC basically wants to formalise what the global creative nomads amongst us already know – that offices are soooooooooooo 20th Century. So if you love coffee and wifi (and let's face it, who's not addicted to both?!?) then this is the app for you :) It has saved more more than a few times recently, when out and about and needing a fix of both.

My one gripe - and it is a big one - is that you cannot submit a cafe direct from the app?!?! This seems like a major oversight, and something that needs to be added asap. With this added functionality, the app would become truly potent as powered by the wisdom of the crowd. The database would grow exponentially! Another thing for v2 would be more data - like coffee quality? staff friendliness? can-sit-there-all-day-on-one-coffee?

But over all, a great idea with even better potential.

Glossy but fails to deliver

Glossy website looks promising but fails to deliver. Limited number of cities covered and very limited no of cafes considering website going for more than a year. Tried to submit some cafes in my city Brisbane but the website seems to want to charge me $1 to do so for each cafe. Has potential to be much better than it is - needs to get rid of charge for submitting cafes and needs to encompass more cities and expand it's numbers if it is to survive. Hope it improves !

Brilliant little app!

This little app has helped me discover a whole bunch of laptop friendly cafes that I didn't know existed! Also love the fact it lists cafes with power as well as free wifi. Found plenty of cafes here in London. The geo location feature combined wih maps really helps too, nice one!
