“Letterpress is a painfully addictive word game, earning its place on my home screen and sure to win the hearts of people in bathrooms everywhere.” —iMore

This is the most consistently interesting word game of any I've played, and I've been playing it with 3 people all the time for at least 2 years now. Like Scrabble, a large vocabulary is very helpful, but in fact strategy is more important and the more you play this game the deeper you realise it goes. Makes Scrabble look like a child's game. Criticisms: As others have said, I would have given it 5 stars except that the dictionary it uses is rubbish and often doesn't accept common British words. The notifications are erratic too, but now I just check it every morning anyway.
Could be good... But isn't
Good concept with word strategy that is fun but challenging. But theapp is glitchy, telling me there is a Game Center issue, or lost internet connection - when it's actually the app itself.
Play wise there is an imbalance in the game, starting first almost guarantees the win, starting second makes it almost impossible to outmanoeuvre your opponent if they have a half decent vocabulary. Anyone looking to buy this should think again and go for WELDER, a far superior word game with much greater playability and appeal.
There are also lots of players who appear to use cheat apps, which utterly spoils it.
Good game but flaky app
I like the game. V addictive. But the app is flaky. Often requires you to come out of the app and reopen in order to accept turn. There is no way to manually refresh other than coming out of app and back in or by using iPhone pull down/up menus which forces a refresh. Ironic seeing as the game is supposed to have been developed by the guy who invented the pull-down refresh! Yesterday all my active games inexplicably disappeared from the app even though they are all still registering in game centre. A great game has been spoiled by a badly built app.
