LibriVox Audio Books provides unlimited access to over 50,000 audio books. Each audiobook can be streamed over the internet or downloaded for later use. The LibriVox Audio Books app features classic best sellers and out of print treasures from every genre of literature in more than 30 languages.
Audio books from LibriVox are free thanks to the dedicated work of hundreds of volunteers who record, edit and distribute the books. New releases are prepared daily, and the entire catalog spans the breadth of world literature, including novels, history, biography, short stories, poetry and more in both fiction and non-fiction.
The LibriVox AudioBook app makes it easy to search the LibriVox catalog of free audio books. You can browse by title, author or genre, look at new recordings, or search by key word. Because the books are free, you can listen to as much or as little of a book as you like with no cost. The app remembers your position, so you can return to a book later, and includes unlimited bookmarks and a sleep timer for your convenience.

Ratings and Reviews
I have been a LibriVox fan since just after it's beginning, I remember when the 1000th book was uploaded. LibriVox is a fantastic resource, it's only problem up until now was the faff involved in downloading zip files and importing to iTunes, with until quite recently also having to search for a good image to use for the cover art. The app solves all of these problems.
Like some other reviewers, I payed for the 'pro' version, not because the adverts were annoying but as a demonstration of support.
The content of thousands of books of all genres is free. People have spent a great deal of there own time narrating these stories, poems and textbooks. One of the strengths of LibriVox is that there is no limit as to the number of versions of each book that can be uploaded. If you don't care for a specific reader, download or wait for another version. Even take up the challenge and read your favourite title yourself.
Fantastic!! The only MUST HAVE app!!
If it was up to me, your phone would come out of the box with this app pre-installed!! A HUGE thank you to all the volunteer readers, quite a few of whom are good enough to turn "professional"!! Some are not so good, but if this upsets you, put your money where your mouth is and volunteer yourself, see if you can do better!! LOL 😁 All the titles are old books, so they are no longer subject to copyright, but that's how they make it free for the rest of us to use. Just because they are old or you've never heard of them doesn't make them bad books!! There are, of course, the "classics", but there are also many hidden gems that just needed dusting off and putting back into circulation. Give it a try, you'll love it 👍🏻
Generally good - but ditch the ads
This is my favourite way of accessing the public domain audio books.
But the intrusion of adverts between book chapters is a both a pain in the bottom , but also a pain in the ears.
The volume balance is rarely in line with the books volume and so just as you are mellowing in the mood of the book, up comes an ad at twice the volume, which can makes you leap out the chair.
Please drop them.
