Logic Pro X : is it as good as it’s name lives up to?

yes, it lives up to its name. When I first set out to buy this DAW i was expecting maybe a handful of bug fix updates, yet whats actually happened is full-fledged updates which make your DAW feel new again, With some much needed GUI design updates. The (What I call) Alchemy update, Just goes to show that apple are still dedicated to there pro users, and also suggests that we will continue to see absolute awesome updates in the future.

When I first got this DAW some many few years ago now, I thought it was brilliant, possibly the best DAW I have used (And i’ve used pretty much all of them, such as ableton, cubase, pro tools - except FL Studio, like really?) Even though back then it was buggy as hell (Don’t worry they're all gone now).

Today, well today I still get excited everytime theres a new update, heck, even when I open a project!

All in all, You can’t go wrong, Out of the box you get only the best included plugins, Yes, Logic comes with a whole array of seriously powerful plugins - For instance, I have some fab filter and Native Intrument plugins, yet i still find myself using Logic’s own.

I would not worry if you think apple are going to release logic pro 11 tommorow, becuase they won’t - it seems apples approach to Logic Pro X(10) is buy it once, own it forever. I hope that anyone reading this finds it useful to know that, despite some old negative reviews, logic Pro X is a killer DAW.

Worth every penny!

Still my favourite DAW even after 12 YEARS

I first acquired Logic when it was still available for Windows (eMagic Logic v5.1) and even back then I was more than pleased with the quality of the audio and ease of use. It's great for recording audio but watch those meters as they’re still not amazingly accurate in comparison with, say Pro Tools/Cubase, and of course it’s so easy to use. The program runs well with CPU drainage at the lowest it’s ever been from I can tell, and I haven’t had a single crash from the new version. The MIDI is the most stable it’s ever been, the GUI is slicker and more flat so there’s even less drainage on CPU meaning more processing power focussed on your music. They’ve done a great job on adding more Bus Groups but I don’t need that many, but I’m aware this is great for soundtrackers. The new panning is awesome and came at a great time as I want to start doing surround mixes.

Thanks Apple :D

Logic Pro X is still the best DAW

I genuinely maintain that Logic Pro X is the best DAW out there for both professionals and hobbyists alike. It has all of the features you could ever possibly want to make music, with stock effects and instruments that rival some of the most expensive third party ones on the market. The compressor is genuinely one of the best I’ve heard, Alchemy is probably my favourite synth of all time and quite honestly you could comfortably make music in Logic without ever needing anything else.

The Drummer track is pure awesome. It gives you MIDI and you can edit it to your heart’s content, and drive just about any drum sample library you want, including third party ones. With that said, why bother, the built in drums are genuinely fantastic.

The mixer is probably one of the most powerful and flexible I’ve seen in any DAW. Being able to route just about anything to anything else is awesome and you don’t miss it until you realise how bad other DAWs can be at doing it.

The price is insanely low - it’s probably the best music production deal available on the planet, but in all seriousness Apple could genuinely charge 10 times as much and I’d still use it. It’s honestly the best DAW on the market.
