Wow, this seems to actually work these days!
..and is maybe the best Journey Planer app out there.. right now. But don't hold your breath though, these things seem to change month to month.
Went through a terrible patch where this app was almost unusable. Was painfully, painfully slow - and then crashed all the time. And absolutely the last thing you need in any Journey Planner app is a slow loading time. It is still quite a slow app in my opinion, especially on starting up, and some functions still repeatedly crash. But not quite as slow as it used to be. They obviously rewrote it.
Another app developer (unnamed) who had the best journey planner app until recently, just completely wrecked his app. Seems to have tried to replace it with another paid alternative! Very dodgy behaviour for customers of a paid app, and one I think few will forgive easily.
Glad I kept this replacement on my phone and didn't delete it!
In all fairness though, dealing with a fragmented, unreliable and massively overstaffed Government institution like TFL, must be a monumental pain for all app developers.
London Transport App
A brilliant app for users of public transport within the London area - in some respects even better than TfL's own website . A couple of improvments can be made - although the menu doesn't show the Overground or Network Rail - these stations are included and the app will calculate travel using them . The integration between Network Rail and Tfl is better implemented here than any website .This hidden bonus needs to be made clearer by including both Overground and Network Rail in the menu. Better still the list of NR stations goes outside the Travelcard zone - which is very useful as my local station is just outside the Oyster area , which always stumps the TfL site.
One final request is to Apple - intergration of transport apps into Maps ios6 needs to be far easier. You cannot select an existing app from your phone - the maps app points you the iTunes store - and this app isn't listed !!
Best app I've bought!
I bought this when it was first released 3/4 months ago where it was the normal 59p price before iTunes changed their pricing structure.
That period of time I thought I would thoroughly test this app out putting off reviewing it until now.
I can say that this app is amazing! It is a very, very intelligent little app which always displays up-to-date information regarding the train, tram, bus times, locations and maps to show how to get their. Very impressive.
I must of done now, probably over 100 journeys using this app alone since buying it and it has always taken me the quickest way their.
The fact that the app facilitates the fact of taking you home is very good and hope to use it soon.
Can I suggest that you make an offline version so we can plan journeys whilst walking through the tunnels! 👌👍❕
