This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
MacGuffin is a jukebox for fiction and poetry. All content is in both text and audio form, so you can read or stream audio on the go. Built with commuters in mind, the clever hash-tagging function helps you discover literature according to theme, genre, meme or length
What's New in Version 1.3
Now supports social media authentication on sign-up and sign-in, and deep-linking to content (when you click a link to a MacGuffin story in your browser, the MacGuffin app will automatically launch and take you to that content). Please upgrade to this version if you have an earlier version installed.
Decent if you like poetry and audiobooks
The app uses tags to find stories and poetry, instead of a list of books or authors. This takes getting used to, if you don't know what you're looking for. It is good for finding stuff of a specific length, like 10minutelisten, or a theme like love, but the content is of varying quality. While some of the stories are excellent, the odd one or two are pretty poor, though generally good (and more 'literary') compared to places like Wattpad, and I found some new authors I like. Some of the recordings sound obviously home-made (not great sound quality) but I don't really mind that. I had no problems with Facebook sign up and sign in.
Can't sign up.
As other reviewers have reported, I haven't received the confirmation email I need in order to complete the sign up process. Signing in with Twitter or Facebook doesn't resolve the issue as the email is required for those routes too. This is a shame, as it sounds like a great app. I've been forced to uninstall it.
Love listening to the stories
Great for my commute - love listening to stories and poems on my way to work
