Imagine WALL·E directed by Tim Burton—that’s the weird, wonderful world of Machinarium. But this cute robot’s quest for love combines tons more influences—like point-and-click adventures, hidden-object puzzlers and comic books—for a truly unique experience. Challenging but full of awesome “aha!” moments, it’s an artistic odyssey that looks amazing on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.
Incredible, challenging, must-play.
This is my favourite game of all times, by far. It is atmospheric, has a beautiful little story and gorgeous/full of talent desire. What is captivating though, is the actual riddles. It is challenging and some might take a bit of time, but you can do all of them if you put your mind to it. As a lover of both adventure games and riddles, I was compelled and loved every second of it. In fact, I bought the pc version (years ago) and now I bought the app version to play again and support this beautiful game. What can I say, simply thank you to the developers, I love you guys. My brain is a better place after having been in the little world of Machinarium.
My only wish is that I could forget the riddles and play again, or that there was a Machinarium 2.
Not for everyone
I have much enjoyed all other games by Amanita Design but not this one. It’s not a game to play on your phone or even an iPad because the touch controls don’t work properly so you try to move an object or your character and you can’t so you give up on it. But later on you watch the walkthrough and you realise it was a right path of thought. It has spoiled it for me and I was very exhausted with the whole thing before I even got anywhere. It wasn’t so obvious at all what my character was supposed to do and there were no hints so I couldn’t enjoy the adventure and would just get stuck without a clue how to move on. I also found the sounds and the bad robots obscure. The scenery was to a degree depressing. But I recommend Samorost and Botanicula - those games are much more advanced and smoother to control.
